Melody's surprise

Forums

So Tuesday Melodys udder was finally increasing, but still small. I sent pics to my friend, who owned her for most of Mel's life and had several foals from her. We both agreed that YAY to change, but at least a week or two left. I'm not supposed to use the internet at work, so I only pull up the cam on my work computer when I KNOW they're REAL close. Otherwise, I check in periodically on my Droid. I checked in at about 11:30pm, Mel eating. At about 1:40am I took a small break, pulled up the cam, and OMG THERE'S A FOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Called hubby to wake him up and check on them. SOOOOOOO thankful all went well!!! So, we continue on our colt streak *rolls eyes* But hay, at least we're getting awesome colts, with COLOR! :) I have one mini mare left to foal, I SURE HOPE it's a flashy appy FILLY to keep!!! So meet Melody's boy. He is still nameless. I do have a registered name I like that goes along with momma's name, so I'm considering that, and what barn name I could get from it, but until I decide I'm keeping quiet. I WILL be using this name on a foal, if not this one, so I don't want to give it away ;) So, here's our new fewcap colt! And I'm REALLY considering keeping this boy, even though I have plenty of boys lol! He has one spot :) And under his foal fuzz, he is a LOT more white, which is why I say fewcap vs snowcap (a fewcap is the homozygous form of a near leopard) My friend (Mel's former owner) took these pics and sent them to me, lighting/look is different than from my cam. But I haven't gone through my pics yet. Very cute! I love his nice full blaze! With him being a full cap, does that mean he would produce only leopard app foals or only few spot foals?

How beautiful...he looks like a "keeper" to me too :toast ...(but then I'd keep them all if I could... ymwhisle )

Critterkeeper, me, too! My husband says we should keep all the foals and sell the moms ;)

Jazzy, I wish hee would only produce leopards! It means all his foals will be appies, but they could be characteristics only (mottling, white sclera, striped hooves). His dam is a varnish appy, so no leopard pattern from her (his daddy is a leopard). He is homozygous for Lp, which makes a horse an appy, but then the horse also must get a Patn gene to get the spots (or lack of if LpLp like him).
