Lacy's foaling thread!!! (No, not right now.)

CAM LINK: http://www.marestare.com/fcam.php?alias=paintedpurple AC's Painted Lace (barn name Lacy or most of the time Lace) is 340 days on March 31st. She was bred via AI one time on April 24th and ovulated on April 25th. I guess that puts her at 324 days today. YAY! Thanks to the modern miracle of fetal sexing (this one done by the man that pretty much invented the procedure in horses) we know she is carrying a FILLY We also know, thanks to the genetics of the parents, she will be a palomino. YAY! This will be Lace's first foal so we have no history to go on. She is showing definite relaxation of her hind end muscles and vulva but she's not totally jello or gapping yet. Her udder is steadily growing on a pretty much daily basis and is of a pretty decent size for a maiden. She has "milk" but it's a mostly transparent pale yellow at this time. It is pretty sticky and somewhat sweet though. When it first came in it was totally transparent, bright yellow, not sticky and very salty so we're definitely seeing changes. I've tested her with a pool strip twice just to get a baseline and the first time she had 0 calcium and was off the charts pH wise. The second time I tested her (Saturday night) she had about 50 calcium and and had come down very slightly on the pH. That indicates to me that she is changing and getting ready but still has a bit of time to go. He udder is sill decreasing during the day time as well. Her nightly routine consists of eating hay or standing in the far right corner (view with the water buckets) in her best imitation of a tripod (back legs touching, front legs spread wiiiide to balance her huge belly). She generally lays down very near her purple feed bucket and stays down for somewhere between an hour and 2 hours (mostly sternal but some flat is normal). Her agitation phase has started but it's fairly minimal at this point. No pacing or pawing at all at this time. The most agitated things I've seen her do are belly glares, belly kicks, pinned ears, startled jumps, and some belly bites. What I see most frequently are tail lifts, curls and angry swishes. All of these things are new in the past week or so and seem to be increasing in frequency nightly so far. She stays outside during the day (6:30am to 7:30pm approximately) and the cameras will be off during that time. When she becomes imminent or any time I see her as suspicious she will be left inside for the day and the cameras will be on. If the fencing of her new field is finished before she foals you may get to see a daytime view of her in that field but we don't know if that will happen. It should after the foal is born for sure though. Her ear was damaged in a battle with a sarcoid (benign tumor) and now curls over. CAM LINK: http://www.marestare.com/fcam.php?alias=paintedpurple Here is Lacy (Quarter Horse or Paint) on day 300: http://www.accphotography.com/gallery/download/33486-3/IMG_1990.jpg Day 312: [IMG]http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w65/accphotography/Lace/Pregnancy/IM…] Here are two views you're bound to see at some point if not nightly: [IMG]http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w65/accphotography/Lace/Pregnancy/Be…] http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w65/accphotography/Lace/Pregnancy/Be…] Day 320: Lacy in riding condition (3 years ago): http://www.accphotography.com/gallery/download/23927-3/IMG_9664-3.jpg[/…] Her udder a few nights ago: [IMG]http://i585.photobucket.com/albums/ss298/accmobile/IMG00766-20110312-01…] This was her starting udder (actually this already had a bit of fill): http://i585.photobucket.com/albums/ss298/accmobile/IMAG0142.jpg She is bred to Guaranteed Gold (Thoroughbred): This is a link to ALL of Lacy's photos: http://www.accphotography.com/lacy And links to photos of the baby daddy: http://www.accphotography.com/gallery/photos/canadahorses/donnas/ http://www.accphotography.com/gallery/photos/canadahorses2/donnas2/ Thanks for watching!!! OMG!!!! SUCH a cute baby! Lacy seems a bit unsure of what to do still, but I'm sure she'll catch on soon. Audrey held some sign up a while ago but I don't know if it said anything.

Also, I'm kinda bummed I missed it. I had a feeling it would happen while I was gone to the movies, so I set it up to record.... but I forgot to turn my screensaver off so all I got was stupid screensaver! Oh well, I'm sure we'll be showered with pictures.

My friend has been glued to her feed for the past week, I'll have to get her to join the forum so she can see all the pictures as they come!

SpiffyGrl Fri, 03/25/2011 - 22:42

I watched the whole thing! It was awesome!!!! We had a whole other forum watching her foal and we were all so happy to see such a beautiful little filly!

P.S. I joined this forum because of you! :)

OMG, how did I miss that, I checked in this morning and no baby and then I checked back just now and baby! She must of had her this afternoon early evening? Congrats ACC! Looks cute, I see a big white blaze what are her other markings?

Monsterpony Sat, 03/26/2011 - 01:12

Lacey seems to vacillate between being super excited about her baby and then being thoroughly confused as to what she is suppose to do with this new toy. It is cute.

dakotakdq Sat, 03/26/2011 - 02:37

accphotography Sat, 03/26/2011 - 02:40

Ain't she great!?!?!? I'm gonna sleep some. Vet in the am for the checkup. Will post pics tomorrow. There are some already on my FB but didn't think to get any dry one with my phone.

I'm SOOOO glad so many of you got to see!!!!!

Bannerminis Sat, 03/26/2011 - 04:18

OMG she is just fab and of course I missed it. I watched till about 11.30 pm my time but she was out for a while.
Congrats on your new girl - hurry on with the photos

My daughter Grace (5yrs) took to watching her on my computer yesterday and wanted her to have her baby while she is watching - she will be excited to see the new baby this morning.

Danni Sat, 03/26/2011 - 05:38

OMG ACC HUGE Congratulations!!!!! She looks just beautiful!!! I'll be watching her on the cam all night now LOL!!!

AppyLady Sat, 03/26/2011 - 08:41

I was just getting ready to turn it off when Lacey started to paw. Ended up spending the entire evening in front of the computer. Congratulations on a beautiful baby!

Krickette Sat, 03/26/2011 - 09:35

Looks like I *just* missed watching it! I knew she looked extra wobbly when I looked on the phone on the way home!

accphotography Sat, 03/26/2011 - 10:35

She has only lain twice. Both times early on and for only about 15 minutes each. She hasn't been down since around midnight. She just can't seem to figure out how to fold her legs. Hard to believe considering she's been folded for at least a couple months now. If she doesn't figure it out soon we will try to help her. Both have pooped and peed. Vet sometime between 12 and 2 hopefully. Lace tore just a little and is bleeding lightly but nothing I'm concerned about.

Both of her eyes are some shade of blue but I can't tell if they're baby cream blues or true blue yet. I strongly suspect just baby creams but I'll try to tell later.

Two pics to tithe you over:

Oh she is just adorable and I have had a good laugh at her dance moves the poor little thing. I am sure she will figure it out soon.

I showed Grace the last couple of mins of the delivery she was well impressed although I did get bombarded with questions that I tried to side step

Anyway in her words "She is sooo cute"

accphotography Sat, 03/26/2011 - 16:11

If she has anything it will just be pasterns or coronets. It's almost impossible to tell as pale as she is. We THINK there's some white, but we really can't tell yet.

Third Peppermint Sat, 03/26/2011 - 18:37

Super cute. :) I think she has a little bit of white on her feet, too, but not much. Congrats n the gorgeous filly!

critterkeeper Sat, 03/26/2011 - 20:49

Oh wow, I missed it...congratulations Audry and Lacy on a beautiful little filly. I love that she is the same shade of palomino as my little Storm... :love .

Congratulations! Got to watch it, the advantage with it being daytime here.

Krickette Sun, 03/27/2011 - 11:33

OMG Audrey! I don't know if its cause I'm super hormonal right now or what, but seeing you finally get to put hands on that baby and just seeing that huge smile on your face made me seriously start to tear up! I'm so happy for y'all!!!
