It's a Filly

Forums

Maya foal this morning and she is a sweet little filly...still learning the ropes, but she is getting there. We don't have a name for her yet as Matt is on the road and this is HIS foal...I promised him Maya's first pali foal after we had to put Little Arthur down when he broke his leg. Congratulations! EVERYONE HAS A FOAL BUT ME!!!!!

Okay not really, but send me foal vibes please...

critterkeeper Wed, 04/29/2009 - 13:37

Filly or colt? Sending "healthy foal" vibes to ya - hows that?

Sara Wed, 04/29/2009 - 13:46

I'd prefer a colt, I think, but it really doesn't matter. :) Good conformation, substantial bone, and a sweet personality is what I really want.

She looks wonderful - and all legs, :love She is 41.25 inches tall and weighs in at 121 +/- pounds...
A real =(( heart breaker... :laugh1

Once I get Hank to slow down long enough to get his cell from him, I will download his pixs. Tomorrow I will get reg. cam pixs (Kodak is charging)...she is up running circles around Maya (but staying close to momma). She is a bit cautious, but still curious enough to come over for loving...

Another quick pix from this morning -- hubby forgot camera and I am too stove up to do much moving (rain/cold today and RA is in full bloom :sad ). Note all that nice curly mane and tail...Oh, and I have been told that because she is so dark (almost sorrel looking) that she should mature into a nice golden pali -- hence she is dubbed "Goldie" (hubby is a Goldie Hawn fan).

She's great! Congratulations on the foal. We need pix of Luna too while you're out there!! ;)

Bannerminis Thu, 04/30/2009 - 16:06

What a pretty filly - Congrats and looking forward to more pics of this girl :love

critterkeeper Fri, 05/01/2009 - 12:20

You asked for it - you got it: more pixs (including Luna - but he wouldn't hold still :sad )

Playing peak-a-boo with me while Maya is eating

[img]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/j…]

A full frontal view (where did those white socks go? :sad I hate red clay)

[img]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/j…]

And waiting for momma to get done so we can go play some more (she runs and can keep up with Maya easily). I also see that hubby's pile of scarp wood got blown around during the storm last night - grrr. Now I have to clean it up :BH .
[img]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/j…]

Now on to daddy. First of all - finally an eye shot
[img]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/j…]

Luna was pacing along the gate and would NOT stop so he is kinda twisted and stretched out, but I tried (I was by myself and couldn't risk getting in the wet pasture mud after nearly a week of being laid up with my RA). I have Matt coming over later, so I can get him out and brush my baby - he is filthy!
[img]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/j…]

Okay he finally stopped (but it was so he could whiz - so I positioned the camera to cut off that angle - :laugh1 )

Just like mommy. See how shiny Maya is - she is dirty, unbrushed and it is overcast and raining but she still shines (like a fresh waxed floor).

critterkeeper Sun, 05/03/2009 - 19:24

Maya - her momma - is the one that I told everyone on the old board shines like a new penny all summer long. She is the shinniest horse I have ever seen that IS NOT a Champaign (brown eyes, dark skin with no mottling, etc.). Whatever makes Maya so shiny is what I think is affecting Goldie's coat and making it shiny too -- I can't wait until the sun comes out if she shines like this on overcast and dull days.

TwinCreeksFarm Sun, 05/03/2009 - 21:07

Wonderful baby, really! And she is very shiny. Congrats, for a second time!!
