Yes, though they tend to express larger patterns when more are present.

As MP says, they can have quite dull patterns in one form but can be really loud when all are present.

LOL!

The reason so many have multiple patterns is because whern you preed paint to paint the patterns can.....accumulate. Even breeding to a "solid" horse with a minimal hidden pattern can throw another pattern in the mix. I think what happens with some of the very loud cropouts is you have two bloodlines of minimal patterns that are quite happy to stay minimal on their own but put them together and BOOM. :o

'overo' is just a term that describes a horse that is not tobiano, meaning that yes they can be frame, sabino, splash, or a combination of all pinto patterns, which is why we don't use the term overo or tovero-too vague and dosn't really tell you anything about what patterns they really are

Pamela, it was not a stupid question at all. Paints tend to have multiple patterns so it is not that often you even run across a horse that is solely one pattern (especially with the sabino scapegoat running amuck :D ). I would say that the vast majority of people that come to the forum with questions on stock breeds use the term overo until they see that it is too vague a word to use especially when talking in genetic terms.

That's right. Like MP said: not a stupid question and please do not apologize. :o
There is no need! And we as old timers should learn to be patient and tactful, so nobody is afraid to ask.

Pinto is a horse with one or more of the white pattern genes. Paint is a breed of horse that lines to QH or TB with a pinto pattern.

Not a stupid question. It was sure dull and boring when no one new could get in and we could not help anyone. This is much better though Fizz may forget....There is no sense in banging your head when there's no wall yet to bang it on! ;)
