Innishfael Foals 2009

Forums

i am new to 'this' board, maigray kindly pointed me here after the other color board disappeared. i wanted to share my new foals with you, it has been a fabulous year for us so far! first born on april 9, is innishfael loki. loki is by rlinktoblue and out of br peaches moore, he is 3/4 arabian and the sixth foal out of this cross. peaches has produced an unbelieveable six dilutes in a row for us - four of those were also overos. i say overo because my horses all carry sabino/frame and splash :) peaches went 361 days with this colt, but he was worth the wait. then gs april tscent foaled right on time and gave me a fabulous palomino sabino pinto colt. this colt is by innishfael dragon, my 3/4 arabian buckskin pinto (who is a full sibling to innishfael loki). his name is innishfael oro and his front stockings go up to his forearms, the hind stockings go up the front of his stifles into the body, he has side spots on the left side, belly white (how much i have no clue, too hard to tell now) and white under his chin into his throatlatch. not to be outdone, innishfael dove decided to go a few days early and make april a banner month. dove is a half arabian palomino frame overo and produced a palomino filly - wish this one had spots ...... this filly was larger than i expected and she will take a while to fill out. dove was bred to mechall (magnum chall x r melodic blus (rlinktoblue daughter)) we named this one innishfael swan. swan has an interesting blaze face and her muzzle looks like she dipped it in milk. two hind stockings as well. now i get a break for a while, next foal is not due till the end of this month and that mare traditionally goes ten to fourteen days overdue each time. after that, i have one left due in the middle of june, but she traditionally goes two to three weeks early, so this might get interesting. both of these expected foals are 'dragonlets' as we fondly refer to those by innishfael dragon. thanks for viewing and letting me brag/show off! sheila - innishfael farm

Welcome, you have now been approved and can post away !

Lovely foals congrats.

BTW - I wouldn't use the term Overo on the board you will wake the trolls up !!! :laugh1 ..use Frame, Splash, Sabino, Tobiano ...trust me. ;)

I love "Dragon" put a picture of him up, will you, some people may not have seen him!!

Oi, Lipi. I am NOT a "Troll"!!!! :hammer [-x

thank you everyone! i had to laugh at the troll comment.... on many of my horses i can actually use the term overo and be correct, they show signs of all three patterns! like dragon for instance, here are a few photos of him:

dragon starts his under saddle show career the end of this month and we are aiming for Pinto World show in june. this is what he looks like wearing leather:

what you cannot see in these photos is that dragon has one black 'stocking' on his left fore - i just love that stocking! hopefully at the show in may and then at world we will get some better photos. once all the dragonlets are here, i am also going to have a professional photographer come out and see what they can get from the foals.

thanks again for the compliments
Is Dragon at public stud now? How are Maximus and Miri growing/doing?
we are not standing dragon to the public anymore. i think he was just too 'different' and the two years i advertised him and promoted him i only sold one breeding. so i decided my mares are good ones and if someone wanted a dragon foal they could buy a quality one from me :) he sure has been producing nicely.

here is max at a year old, this is a practice shot, we have a show coming up the end of the month and he will be clipped and cleaned and photographed, so the next photos will be better

and i took some of dragon that day too so you can see he has beefed up.

i have not seen any new photos of miri in quite a while, she did change owners again and while i have been in touch with the new owner, i have not gotten any photos. new photos of danu will come soon, also at the end of the month. she is really growing up nicely!

I wonder if my Lacy x Arab baby will be as gorgeous as Dragon? :laugh1 If she throws her frame, who knows, but it won't be cream. *sigh* He's so dreamy. I'd love to have one just like him.

Maigray Sat, 05/09/2009 - 20:26

I honestly think he could be very popular, especially after his under saddle showing is accomplished. I think it just takes time to find his niche. But I know a stallion is a lot of work and his foals could establish him over time as well. I can't wait to see Danu!

vneerland Sun, 05/10/2009 - 09:46

Same here. I only hear oh's and ah's when I first show his link to anyone. I know an breeder in Europe has him on the favorite potential studs list now. 8-)

thank you all! your encouragement is greatly appreciated.

here are some photos i took today, the foals are growing up fast. we have two more to go, one mare looks like she may go within the next few days.

here is loki

and swan

and oro

thank you also for the encouragement on Dragon - i did look at transporting his semen to europe back in 2006 and it was about 7,000.00 in permits. at that point i figured it would be cheaper for a breeder to purchase a foal and import it. that way the breeder knows exactly what they are getting as well. all of my foals are reasonably priced, so it may work out very well that way.
