I'm sure we've discussed this already...

but i'm still confused by this: http://www.coveyridgearabians.com/19301.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Maverikh CRA. I know KD Just Charge It has been discussed, but I don't remember talking about Maverikh. I know that the khartoonklassic site didn't talk about him being silver, but covey ridge seems to think so.

Holy COW! Uh, no he doesn't look that bad. lol

He actually LOOKS like an arabian haha.

I have never been able to put my finger on it, he's just .... off. Maybe it's just me because he's so damned tall.

Wish I knew his name. He has been shown quite a bit and has done VERY well.

Where's the video of the melanistic Giraffe running???

Our stallion Rabidan was 14.00 if you shod him and stretched him up on tippy toe.
He sired what was at the time the tallest purebred in England (16.2hh) out of a 15.00hh mare!!!
But that was gelded...not typey enough.
You do actually need more than a pretty colour/pattern or size in order for something to be bred, in my world, anyway.
As you are probably aware, I have no love for quarter horses as a breed, I think they are, a lot of them, just awful (and Cougar can just cover his ears and smirk at this as he transcends his breed, if I still had big mares I would be looking at frozen semen!!) I know there are a lot of sound QHs around, but I cannot cope with a breed registry that not only allows this sort of travesty to be bred form, but allows animals with a known hereditary, lethal, fault to be bred and registered, and breeds halter horses that look like Simmental cattle.
OK, rant over, it's safe to come back on the Forum, kiddies.
AND they still can't get their colours or patterns right!!!

:laugh1 RF, I breed QHs and Paints and I have to agree with a LOT of your opinions...and I will go you one better. :bounce

IMHO, that is one of the primary reasons the QH and Paint markets are in the horrid state they are - any mutt of a stud is allowed to breed :BH I am of the opinion that the practice of breeding only the best/gelding more should be applied to all colts until this situation turns around.

Lipigirl: I meant that the giraffe is carrying her neck upright - though you are right, the conformation of the neck is similar... ;)
Rf and crittercreeper - agreed completely. Some saying goes: Breed the best and geld and ride the rest... this would serve every breed well IMO and not just in tough economic times but in the long run! ;)

Too bad that can't be applied to people... :bounce :laugh1

Im Not sure i would want to ride the humans who aren't the best LMAO. We've seen some horribly conformed horses breeding Could you imagine having to ride the human equivalent?! lol

How naughty :laugh1

I was at a pony breeding show at saturday after several years abstinence ---- in the foal rings I could follow every judgement and applause it ---- but coming to the elder GRPs it went away from me.
Winner was the horse (a 3 year old), that came out almost crazy -- needed 3 rounds to calm down enough to show at least a few steps trot, no chance to see some measure for all that hoping and bucking around ..... and my goodness was she fat. But all of the higher placed ponies were overfed --- something that I saw to date only with QHs and at some Welsh shows in England.

I don´t know what the breeding societies want ..... bombs no kid can ride --- at least not savely -- showcracks who are lame at 10, because their joints give up?

I´m a bit appalled, I must admit -- if that´s the way our breeding societies want their future horses I give up.

There are times times when it's enough to make you wonder who's pocket got lined or who "gained" from the choices some of the judges make - we know it wasn't the horse industry. :sad
