I know the color, but what do y'all think??

Well in the first couple of pics she looks red dun and in the last couple she looks bay based. She's not what I would expect for a brown dun foal. They "generally" have dark face masks and black dorsals hers is red.

I'm going to say she'll shed off red dun but I'm not positive about that one.

Gray?

I will be very surprised if this foal sheds off to be grullo. Grullos generally have a very buff colored foal coat. This foal has too much red in its coat. However there has been a case of a foal everyone swore was red dun shedding off grullo however those cases are very rare.

Ok ok...he's a grullo!! This is the 2nd colt from these 2 that produced a red dun foal (when born) & then shed out grullo.
Now I dunno if he'll go gray or not...its a possibility. This pair has had 2 bay roans (fillies) & 2 grullos (colts).
His sire is the same as my gray filly.

More pics....

I win! :booty :rofl
I probably couldn't have got it based on the first pics but with the second ones I saw the silvery white color of the small shed area on his rear and neck and the blackness around the nose and eyes.
Do you know if he has cream? I'm curious how many of those "white" grullos do.

Morgan Thu, 03/26/2009 - 20:21

yes cream on black doesn't really show (and definitly wouldn't be able to tell on a grulla gone grey!) but some people say it will show on grulla and make them lighter. I dunno, was just curious. And with the horse coming from dun lines it's easy to get cream along with that in the pedigree and noone notice.

What does everyone think of the white streak in his mane? I thought it was baby fluff in the other pics but looks like it's permanent.

Ok here is the '07 full brother to the colt I posted.
I don't have any baby pics though, but they were both born red dun & shed the same way.

Was the original foal in the thread tested?
As far as I know none of his foals have been tested for anything.
