I have a new cat!

Forums

A better cat! Not like, physically new, but...Riot is so different! In a good way! I will be honest, I was up in the air about what to do with little Zoot, if I should keep her or just foster her, but...She's starting to come out of her shell finally. Moreso with Riot than with people. She trusts me and Glenn and sometimes my roommates... But like, the other day we had people over, and two of the guys were sitting on the couch playing with her and she was just fine! She still goes under my bed sometimes, but honestly I think that's mostly just to get some sleep, like she wants to be all hidden away. But I've noticed her napping on top of my bed more often lately. And she and Riot are getting along better each day. They still wrestle a LOT, but Riot is not a very feminine cat, she's always loved to tussle. But this morning when I woke up, Riot started grooming me and purring and such, and then Zoot came over and groomed Riot! It was cute. But now that Riot has a pet (that's what we keep calling it, haha!) she has a way to get out all her energy and desire to maul things lol! The kitten is way better at fighting back than my hand is. I think she wears Riot out. She's a better fighter, for sure, Riot does stupid things and gets herself knocked off the bed and such. Riot has been so sweet lately. One of my roommates, Maggie, who Riot has never particularly cared for, was sitting on the couch watching tv the other day, and Riot went up and got on Maggie's lap and curled up for a nap. Maggie just stared at me in shock haha! And Zoot is just so weird. She isn't as sure footed as Riot was at her age. She also wags her tail like a dog. I'm serious, she just flings it, constantly moving it, I have never seen anything like it. She also spends incredibly long periods of time chasing it. She's just ran in a few circles while I typed that sentence. Now she ran off to stalk Riot though haha. Also, I found Zoot's brother outside. We think it's a boy anyway, since its so much bigger than her (but still obvious that they are from the same litter). It looks just like her, but without the little nick in the ear. Also also, I think I found a kitten for my mommy! Well, it's not born yet, but I have to take it as soon as it is and bottle feed it, since it's a mean barn kitty. She's really gorgeous though, just like Angel, who was mom's favorite cat that we lost (a bottle raised barn kitty too).

Also, how to you teach a cat to wear a collar? I don't remember Riot giving me this much trouble. It's a breakaway, so she keeps ripping it off.....

Two kitties are so much better than one! I'm glad things seem to be working out!

None of mine will wear collars. One can get any collar off within a minute or two and the rest just go out and lose them in the brambles so I've given up. On the one hand I was glad that the safety release works, on the other I was spending a small fortune on collars. When I lived in town it was not a problem (except for the one who can remove them himself -- he has never worn a collar) but now that I'm in the country they just lose them too quickly.

Riot's has come in handy. She broke the screen on a window leaning on it and fell outside (1st floor, lol). She was apparently scratching on all the doors until someone let her in and called me.
