hunter/jumper tack and apparel for sale
black Ariat "Classic" half chaps, size M. These half-chaps are in very good condition with just some rubbing wear on the suede inner part. They're perfect for schooling or can be worn with black paddock boots to mimic tall boots in the show ring. $50 Tan Ariat front-zip breeches, size 28R. These are the right color for the show ring but not quite as nice as Tailored Sportsmans. Machine washable so perfect for schooling too. Mostly cotton with some spandex. Good used condition. $50 Tan Tailored Sportsman breeches, size 30. Mostly cotton with some lycra. These appear to be a lightweight breech. Good used condition. $65 RJ Classics 100% wool hunt coat, size 4L. Cadet blue with subtle tiny check pattern. Solid navy lining. Never worn but no tags. $95 Tan plaid hunt coat, size 8. Solid brown lining. I can't read the brand but it was $400 new and only worn a couple times. Stunning coat. $200 Essex show shirt with one collar, butter yellow, size 32. Good used condition. No stains that I can see which is amazing for a pale yellow shirt worn around horses! $35 Peter Wylde OS jumper bridle. Barely used and butter soft! This bridle is HUGE and would fit an Irish Draft, Draft cross, or Warmblood with convex profile. It is too large for even my largest horses because they have fine heads. $200 an ever-changing list of things for sale may be viewed at

Is there any way MP could take it down for you when she goes?

I dunno...it's not the mileage as such, but rather the headache of trying to get it cleared thru' MAF and Customs (danged biosecurity, you know). Think I need to do some research... of course, part of the research is gonna be how to explain to hubby I need a saddle, when we have about 20 English saddles sitting in the tack shed... :laugh1

Seriously, biosecurity? is that because it's leather or does everything have to clear biosecurity? What do they do with luggage?

I'll get some pics of the saddle and post them.

1) it's made of leather
2) it's horse gear
3) it's used and has been on livestock
4) you're on a farm.

Technically, if you were to come over, since you live on a farm, you would have to declare that and walk thru' disinfectant and/or remove your shoes to have them cleaned by the MAF inspectors at the entry point. Biosecurity is taken very seriously...even Prince Charles had to walk thru' a disinfectant wash when he came over while the UK was dealing with foot-and-mouth disease. And don't ask about what happened with the EI outbreak in Australia and our borders! Friend of mine is still waiting for her new Welsh stallion she bought right before the outbreak to be shipped over.

dang! Lemme know if you ever stumble upon a black bridle that would fit an Arab...that's all I'm semi in the market for (though I do loooove my current one it looks silly with my dressage saddle). I think my friend is going up to Oregon this summer ^_^

Heh, I used to have one that came with Ginny but I didn't have any use for a black bridle so I got rid of it. I'll keep my eyes open for another one.

I'm still curious about this biosecurity thing. So if I went to New Zealand and had to go through the disinfectant stuff, would they also go through my luggage and disinfect the other shoes I may have worn on my farm? It must suck a little to be on an island and have to be so careful!

Do you have a preference on brand name or flap style?

Honestly, I don't know...I was 'farm-free' for the appropriate amount of time in Florida before coming here, so didn't have to go thru' anything. And all my shipped goods were fumigated right before I closed and sealed the container. As for sucking? We don't have to vaccinate for WNV, rabies, EEE, or pretty much anything other than tetanus and rhino. Seems a fair enough trade to me! :booty :laugh1 :HB

old and cheap works for me :) i would love an old collegiate....they don't make them like that anymore and those old collegiates last FOREVER. flap doesn't matter either. as long as the seat is not deep and the leather is good enough.

I have a student with an old, plain flap saddle, probably 16.5", and it fit her wide APHA gelding. I don't remember the brand but the quality seems pretty good. Do you want measurements? Photo? I think she'd sell it for $300-ish.
