Hello ,

Hi , I thought I may as well be the first newbie to come out and introduce myself , my name is Sue , I'm english but I live in Ireland ( Irish husband) , we have bred/ridden sport horses for many years , in 1995 my OH lost his leg and we continued to ride but due to heart probs and Patrick constantly falling off we decided it was safer to concentrate on our little herd of miniature horses hence my need to educate myself in the mysteries of colour genetics ! Ive been reading the threads on the main board for a long time so I have the basics , but I'll apologise in advance in case I ask any dumb questions

Daylene Alford Mon, 02/16/2009 - 19:48

Great to have you!

I'm alforddm from the old forum.

critterkeeper Tue, 02/17/2009 - 19:04

Hello Sue and welcome. My name is Kylene (Critterkeeper to my friends :-h ) and you will find that I have a tendency to talk a lot with smileys (it's a Southern thing). I too am married to an Irishman (just and American one ;) ). I know we do have a number of newbys, but most of us are the same old "cronies" that have been hanging out for a few years now.

Now for bio: I am "retired" from the working world and am currently working on starting a small breeding farm. I have 4 sorrel/chestnut mares/fillies and 2 bays (one is the Paint with splash, sabino and frame). We also have our 15 yr. old sorrel "cow pony" gelding, Darwin - that I bought he was 2 yrs old.

My stud is a 3 yr old 14.1 hd cremello who has splashy looking socks and a star (only visible when he's wet or very dirty). I am looking to upgrade to a bigger stud in a few years (right now I am looking for "gold" and cremello will give me that :-bd ).

And last but not the least of which, I take in a lot of animal rehabs & rescues. Most of them are seniors that are "no longer useful" to their owners or abused or neglected. We don't discriminate, we welcome them all - be it dog, cat, horse, cow, goat, sheep, chickens and on occassions even a child or two. The more the better is our motto :ymhug: .

Sara Fri, 02/20/2009 - 16:11

Hey all, I'm countercanter. I'm not going to bore you with an intro.

critterkeeper Fri, 02/20/2009 - 22:36

CC - I don't think there is a person on here that could call your life BORING -- not by any stretch of the imagination... ;)) ;)...

supaspot60 Sat, 02/21/2009 - 18:58

critterkeeper you sound like my kinda gal! theres been more than a few waifs and strays take up residence here too ,

Sara Sat, 02/21/2009 - 23:27

haha, I just meant that after my bazillion posts on the old forum I wouldn't bore you all with a re-intro!

raknrydr Mon, 02/23/2009 - 20:23

Wow, new site looks great.
I'm raknrydr from the old site, I lurk alot don't post much because I don't know alot on genetics so I ask questions or just sit back and learn.
But I do love a loud lit up animal, rare colors & odd markings make me drool. =p~
Jo

Tianateke Mon, 02/23/2009 - 20:33

Ahhhh, a forum where I can finally TALK! lol I have been lurking so long I almost forgot how, not!

CC, sorry about Inigo, and your kitty (never did catch the rest of that before the last crash, but he sounded like CHF  )

Critterkeeper! Good to see you!

Has any one seen Diane? Aka NZ Appies? My folks are headed to ZN on the 28th for my little sis's Graduation, she got her Masters of Interpretation. (with an A+ on her dissertation!) Also a long time flesh friend (meaning real time, not internet, and not like that, you naughty naughty  ) is going to YWAM there too the end of this month.

SO glad to be here! Tiana

P.S. wasn't there also a back up site Jenks organized while the ECF was still up? Is it up or down? Has anyone told them there's a party over here?

Daylene Alford Mon, 02/23/2009 - 20:46

Great to see you again! Yes, the other forum is still there and they know about this site. Most everyone has a membership here also. Its just the same old folks here so far but it should pick up as soon as the search engines get us indexed.

Monsterpony Mon, 02/23/2009 - 21:39

Heather set up the back-up site and there is some action going on at both that one and this new one.

Diane is still around, I'll let her know you are looking for her. I'll be heading to NZ to see her (and do an internship) in October.

NZ Appaloosas Tue, 02/24/2009 - 16:33

I'm here! Are your folks just coming over for the graduation, Tia, or they taking some time to go exploring?

Diane

lipigirl Wed, 02/25/2009 - 17:17

Hi I'm also from the old Forum and have miniatures as well as a Lipizzaner and a Paso Fino, I also live in the UK.

supaspot60 Wed, 02/25/2009 - 19:46

Hello Lipi , hows that gorgeous little white stallion ??

Bannerminis Sat, 02/28/2009 - 10:37

Hi Sue, Thanks for putting up the link for the rest of us to sign up and learn more about colour :D

peruvianpasogal Sat, 02/28/2009 - 20:34

Hi, another old board member Critterkeeper sent me a link to both boards (I lost the other forum link )

Critterkeeper I have a gold cream Couger colt that should mature to at least 14.3 I will sell you ;)

Monsterpony Sat, 02/28/2009 - 22:59

Peruvianpasogal- I was hoping you would pop up again :D. Can I use a pic of Cougar for a veterinary survey project that I am doing?

peruvianpasogal Sun, 03/01/2009 - 08:59

MP you sure can, do you have a pic or do you need one?

critterkeeper Sun, 03/01/2009 - 15:43

Gayle, are you trying to get me shot? Hubby is growling now as he just had to go out and put out more hay due to the storm (it is snowing like I haven't seen it snow in a decade here). Not that a nice cougar colt wouldn't be a WONDERFUL addition, I'd have to find a home for Luna first as two studs is more than I can handle (Hubby was looking over my shoulder and chuckling at that thought :angle )

Danni Sun, 03/01/2009 - 19:46

Hello all! I'm from the old forum too. I have mostly shetlands and gypsy cobs.
Cheers

Danni

Morgan Mon, 03/02/2009 - 17:13

I'm DangerRanch. Been wanting to change my name over there for a while though, so Morgan it is now :)
Unfortunatly I seem to have signed up in lower case.....is there a cure for this?

Introduction..umm well, for those who dont know:
I'm 21 years old. Live in Oklahoma, north of Tulsa in the Osage hills. I (well, my family and I) have 6 horses.
Dusty: sorrel tobiano/etc. gelding
Classy: sorrel tobiano/splash/sabino mare, 2 blue eyes
Sissy: black tobiano/sabino mare
Chase: deaf black splash/sabino gelding , 2 blue eyes
V: flaxen sorrel tobiano/splash/sabino war bonnet, 1 blue eye
(all APHA paints)
and Ali: a grade palomino frame/sabino arab cross.

3 dogs: Bubba (rotti/sheppard), Webster (phyrenese (sp?)/hound) and Jigsaw (catahoula).

1 indoor/outdoor cat: Henry

I am an aanhcp student (barefoot trimmer and swiss boot fitter). Also starting out in the film business with a bit of acting, eventually writing and maybe produce something if I can get my head around it the big picture :D .

I think out loud a lot so my posts might be a little jumbled. Just :hammer if I'm not making sense.

Bannerminis Mon, 03/02/2009 - 17:35

Any chance of a pic of your dog Bubba Morgan??
I had a cross like that too Mom was the Shepard and dad was the rotti
This is Chad - unfortunately I had to put him down a few yrs ago as he ended up with some injury to his back and to this day I dont know what happend as he went to bed normal and the next morning he couldnt walk. We took xrays, put him on all sorts of medication and eventually he was able to get around on 3ish legs but one leg was been dragged and his hips were very unstable. He also didnt know when he was going to the toilet and kinda did it as he hobbled along and we used to have to give him oil for the constipation. It was so sad to see such a magnificent dog just waste away in front of your eyes - I still miss him terribly :(
But he was a wonderful kind sweet dog and I loved him to bits and I just love that cross of the two breeds.
Anyway sorry for being so longwinded and here is a pic of Chad and would love to see a pic of yours.

Daylene Alford Mon, 03/02/2009 - 17:43

Morgan,

I could but what would you give me...I know you could upload more pictures of your splashy horses to the galleries....

JK (well sorta kidding it would be nice to have some of your splashies) I fixed your username for you :bounce

Daylene

peruvianpasogal Mon, 03/02/2009 - 19:53

Yes Critterkeeper, I am trying to get you in trouble.

Sara Mon, 03/02/2009 - 23:05

Speaking of fixing user names, can you take my last name off? I feel all exposed with my whole name up! I think it just grabbed the whole thing off my facebook.

Morgan Tue, 03/03/2009 - 00:23

Oh, thanks on the name! I feel all grown up now. :D
And yes, here is one pic of Bubba, he's a sweety too, but is also the "police" he has made up a bunch of rules that the other dogs must follow  He's older now, about 10 I think, and he has a pin in one hind leg from getting hit by a car, his hips seem to be holding up well but he gets sore on cold days.
[img]http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/Da…]
Could Chad bark normally? Bub has only ever been able to do a growly snarl, even when happy. Scares the bejeezus out of visitors lmao! He can also do a pretty funny high pitched steady"whoooooooooooooooooooooooooo" but never have I heard him actually "bark". We also think he's nearsighted, he will yell at you untill you get within about 20 feet, suddenly realize it's you and get ashamed of himself. He used to take issue with my looking him in the eye but a few years ago I just stared him down for a week or two steadily and he seemed to accept me as a "grown up big dog". :)
He really is a good smart dog, lots of character.

Fledgesflight Tue, 03/03/2009 - 00:32

And here was I, thinking you were bold! lol
