Getting the Basics

So I could use some professional impute on these articles that I've been writing for the public. I try my best to do as much research as I can before typing anything, but there are limits to what I have access to. The goal of these article is to introduce color genetics to a wide variety of people with different learning levels. I don't want to go to above their heads, so I try to use as many examples as I can, and tend to be long winded, even over something so simple. The first article was just introducing the basic building blocks of color, http://news.deviantart.com/article/109619/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and already I found a mistake where I didn't give proper credit. I guess in my writing this, I gave credit to the research team in France for finding brown, and it's supposed to be Pet DNA.
