Hello from Providence!

Hello everyone! I've been reading articles and shuffling through the forum here, so I figured I'd join and introduce myself! It seems like a nice, small place.

I currently have two dogs - a Malamute and a Shikoku - and will be welcoming a third (a Kishu) soon.

I am very interested in genetics -- especially in regard to dogs and, specifically, my breeds.

This website has already been wonderful to sift through.

Here are my boys -- London, the Malamute and TK, the Shikoku

And my new addition coming soon-- Nami, the Kishu

I have a bit of a soft-spot for high-energy, agouti dogs.

Thank you! :)

The "final straw" that got me curious about genetics was the Japanese breeds. The mid-sized dogs are all from limited genepools - which are often made even more limited outside of Japan due to infrequency of importing and changes in the standard to desire a very specific type.

I'd like to have a functional understanding of preserving these breeds, and I feel knowing a thing or eight about genetics certainly helps.
