His mother is a bay appy and father is a sabino (purple tinge so perhaps bay?)

Father carries splash and is of course sabino...He is sabino, looks like he might have spotting to his rump, has a dark line down his back and a very pink face and light blue eyes with a slight yellow tinge at the edges .. there is no overo in these lines! Is he a dilute brown of some sort? - he's very mousy and pinky...Help !

Seriously I think he is Appy, and Sabino and I think the Varnish from the Appy is what is causing us to be confused. I think you may be right that he is Bay base, but he is such a pretty foal I think he is worth testing to see if he is Bay or Black as, if you keep him entire, this would be important. What is his pedigree?
What base colour is the Sire as he could also be Silver, of course.....

I agree with what Rabbit said.  

What color is the foals eyelashes?  I wouldn't have thought of it if Rabbit hadn't mentioned it but in the bottom photo his eyelashes look very light which is a sign of silver.   If he truly has white or silver eyelashes I would say silver with LP.

I'll go and check the lashes and also the fathers colour breeding  He's a pure falabella - the foal and parents so i am not sure if we have silver anywhere in the breed..I will take a close look and get back to you. YOu could be right about the appy varnish giving the light colour too of course as mum was pure bay when she left her mother and now is a leopard spot with very light brown longer hairs in the winter... heres a pic..

Is that what you would call it? - no white lashes, and yes his colour must be the appy varnish over a bay colour .. he's also possibly splash because of the blue eyes or can sabino alone carry it?

The dam is an extended blanket, Varnish, not a Leopard BTW. You are right there is not Silver in Falabellas as far as I know.

He has a few spots on his rump so he is going to spot out, I would say, so the Sabino markings will disappear with time. Appy  breeders use Sabino to bring out the white in an Appy- I am not convinced it works myself, but I would stick with him being an Appy  as most Appy people do not know about the Pinto thing and, if you were thinking of selling him (I would not) he will be worth more as a straight Appy, I think....

If you want to add the Pinto bit though it is called a Pintaloosa.

I fixed it.  This thread and another one with the same title ended up with the same url alias and it confused the system.

Oh, thanks! That is a lot of work you have to go through just because of the change of this site. You are a great troubleshooter, kudos for your hard work! No smileys still, so I try this as a starter :)
