Silver in Spanish Breeds?

A friend on Facebook was posting about a silver dapple PRE used in a movie. Can be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=342554279091182&set=a.1663564233…; We are really curious if there are others like this or if he is a cross. Or if we're looking at a color that isn't really silver. Also a video is linked in the comments of another similar colored horse. Photo credit goes to Kima Holland.

I would not be surprised at all if there is silver in Spanish breeds. Silver is found in multitudes of breeds all over Europe and is an old mutation. Given that it has such a wide range of expression, it also hides well. For example, the silver in QHs often looks hardly more than sunfading.

I've heard rumor that Arco is really a sooty pali. Wish there was an official test result.

From the lighting in the first image I wouldn't even hazard an accurate guess. Looks like it could even be a gray with a lighter mane and tail.

Agree- also see Thorwood's horses- Silver tested and do not show it, but remember the Morgan that is chestnut as well.......

I don't know, that picture could just be a grey, looks likely to me. As MP said though, silver is obviously in some of the European breeds thus it wouldn't surprise me at all to have it turn up in the PRE

I thought that was a silver in the movie but it was a paso fino or similar gaited pony breed?
Mind you, I've only seen about 5 minutes of the whole movie if that ..

The first one in the pic I'm pretty sure, is just gray. You can see the gray along the flanks and in the girth area. The one in the video looks like he could be silver. I'm wondering however, if he could be like the filly that was posted here a while back that looked silver but tested negative for it.
