Seal Bay with Red Forelegs?

This is a stock image belonging to tinkerhorse on deviantart of a race horse she photographed in California. Source: http://tinkerhorse.deviantart.com/art/Racehorse-2-200789384

She says in a comment that the horse's legs really were that color and that it's not just a trick of the light. I wish we could see the fetlocks and hooves but this is really weird! Any thoughts as to what might have caused this kind of thing, whether it might have environmental causes or some kind of genetic mutation or a misidentified color? The rest of the horse looks like a seal bay. What's throwing me off is that the forelegs are different color from the hindlegs.

Maybe it's a chestnut with extreme sootiness? But I feel like even then we'd see some red tones in the mane and tail. I dunno, I'm stumped.

I feel like dirt wouldn't be that satiny, though? It really seems to be the color of his legs. I wanted to look up the horse but the stock photographer didn't make note of his name or anything so all I know is that he's a race horse in California.
