filling in the blanks...
ok, so I know I've asked this a million times before, but now that I actually have money, should I do that VeriSNP on Jazz? I would like to test for frame, no matter what, just because I want to have a piece of paper to give when and if I sell her so that I can definatly say "if you breed her...." blah blah blah... So I sat down and tried to figure out as much as I can. I know nothing about mist's pedigree or her base color other than *most* of her fleabites are black...which I don't think tells me much of anything, lol! She has 2 (maybe 3?) socks, and a star. Oh, and depigmentation all over her body. so based on these: Cream dilution Red (Chestnut) Tobiano Silver Sabino 1 Agouti (Bay) Champagne Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis (HYPP) Lethal White Overo (OLWS) Glycogen Branching Enzyme Deficiency (GBED) Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa (JEB) HERDA (HERDA-QH) Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (PSSM) I know this: brew: [x] -/- ee -/- ?/? +/? ?? -/- nn +/- ?/? ?/? ?/? ?/? Mist: -/? E? -/- ?/? ?/? ?? ?/? nn ?/- ?/? ?/? ?/? ?/? Jazz: -/- Ee -/- ?/? +/? aa -/- nn +/- ?/? ?/? ?/? ?/? can you fill in any other blanks?

Absolutely not. I have stopped recommending the use of that lab.

I really can't think of anything you'd need an answer to but frame and maybe gray. Everything else is visible.

oh gosh, what'd they do?
So what would be my cheapest option if I wanted to test for those two?

Yup you could get those two for just $50.

Shelterwood has kinda gotten themselves into some trouble. I think they've taken on more than they can handle. They are putting out results known to be inaccurate, seriously delaying results, doing complete retests on horses because "the test didn't come out right", etc. They also have a number of complaints against them through the BBB. Mainly, for me, is the inaccurate results. I will be retesting Lace for a few things elsewhere.

Oh really, maybe I need to retest too, hummm :bounce . Hey, ACC, it was UC Davis that did Lacy's dun test wasn't it? Too bad it wasn't them and they were wrong that she really is a red dun - :laugh1

Its still very possible that UC Davis IS wrong.

The dun test is not 100% accurate.

I also know of at least one case where UC Davis got a frame test wrong.

Really? I'd be interested to hear about that case. What were the test results, and how is it known that they were wrong?

Re: filling in the blanks...

I'm fairly certain she meant on another test, not the dun test.

Yes I meant a different test, not the dun test.

Sorry for the confusion...Ill go edit that post to make it a bit more understandable.

Wow...that actually surprises me WAY more, since that's a test for the actual mutation...did a horse get tested as N/N and then throw a LWO foal?

No. She was tested, tested negative, but visually quite obviously frame. Then was retested and tested positive (also by UC Davis). She also produced a loud frame filly.
