Does anyone know about horse ears growing white with age?
Sounds odd to me, but according to KateBradleyCreative on Twitter, this one horse's ears grew white with age.
If it was somatic it would be
If it was somatic it would be caused by a mutation in the cells affected by the different coloring, so the mutation would only affect the ears. It probably wouldn't be the same as THE gray mutation but it could be something similar.
It's quite interesting, as the ears are usually one of the last places to be white in animals with white patterns.
Maybe a gray somatic mutation
Maybe a gray somatic mutation? That's the only thing I can think of that makes sense.
