Re: Mist
My understanding is that cortisone is used to get "just one more show season" or "just a few more races" out of a horse but long-term it does more harm to the joint. It's a quick fix that harms the horse in the long run.
There are other, more useful joint injections.

Exactly. Surely it wasn't cortisone. I don't know why I assume that first....
Re: Mist
Ive had it injected into my foot and shoulder , we did just about every horse in the barn 20+ of them, maybe its some horses are more sensitive to it then others sorta like a allergic type irritation...george that i have here is 20 now and had it in every nook and cranny of his legs and about every 6 mo at times, he is off the dope lol now for 1 1/2 years and 99% sound other then age. He runs and floats like a dressage hanovarian now and then ...if he was to go back out Id get him his fix , but in retirement he is sound.

I'm behind in reading (since the mod "new post" signal acts as a beacon, and I head here as soon as I see it. :booty ) but from what I understand, most times when talking about hock injections they are useing HA. That's not to say they aren't using cortizone, but if there is a drug mentioned that starts with I think an "I" (name will come to me about 3 AM...), then that is the acid shot.
