Re: flaxen theories
It could be true but it just isnt the reason for their coloring :flower
True :? Who would (have) test(ed) it though? Why for Pete's sakes test for A in a breed that comes in chestnut. :o Unless you were trying to select for something, but if flaxen was not caused by (a link to) agouti, it seems unlikely that data actually exist? :?:
Re: flaxen theories
hellooooo ! here I am , funny you should say silver , a friend of mine suggested the same thing a couple of days ago , this colt's dam has always been a puzzle , (in fact I think shes been on here before ) she looks brown , it has been suggested that she could be smoky black , black dun ,fading black ... Ill go find a pic
Re: flaxen theories
dam pic taken today and a pic of her 2nd foal by the same sire(shes only had two), for at least 3-4 generations all the dams family members seem to be reg as black or brown with a few flaxens thrown in (she goes back to a falabella called easter boy , anyone know what colour he is ?)
Re: flaxen theories
I have some ongoing research in flaxen...the flaxen horses I have were all coat color tested and there are AA's, Aa's, and aa's in the bunch (and I have about 100). So no, I would not subscribe to this theory.
Thank you. 8-) I will go on to assume that the claim that haflingers are 90+% AA is also not accurate.
