Re: Fewspot?
I had a snowcap colt born that within a few years he varnished out and looked like a fewspot, I wonder if that is what this girl did.
My inkling is to say yes...if you look at the coat closely, near the rump, you can see what vaguely looks like a line (on the 'flat' of the hip, you can just see the line jut out and make an ">"). My guess would be snowcap varnished to look fewspot. Also, if you look at the foal, you can see the 'roaning' at the top of the neck, bottom of the belly. Princess had less obvious 'roaning' when she was born, and well, she's likely to end up looking like her mother...solid white with brownish/black smudges on the "outside" lines.
That's why foal/birth photos are so important...app patternss can change in a New York minute.
Well if they get the test for LP then we can definitely settle this debate.
Nope, that'll only tell if a horse is HZ for Lp. It won't explain a thing about white-expression genes.

What about that breed of "Ghost Horses"? Maybe they're Tigres? Most of the ones I've seen have been marked almost identically to this mare with the black in the armpits, pasterns, ears, etc. but the rest white. Based on production those horses definitely appear to be homozygous. Anyone know which ones I'm talking about?
Are you meaning the "Ghostwind" horses? If so, I'd recommend talking to Pat Mefford...she's done a fair bit of research on those.

Re: Fewspot?
Are you talking about Annandale? It seems like I read her site one time. Aren't the "Tigers" from registered Appaloosa breeding anyway?
