Gander was nice enough to come take a few pictures for a book she is working on and I got her permission to share a few of my favs! I never thought our horses could look so good.
wait...Gander is Barbara Livingston???
Yep! Now I don't feel so bad that it took me a while to put that together!

accphotography Fri, 06/12/2009 - 14:15

Yup, she is. She generally doesn't advertise herself freely though.

She's the "professional photographer" that came to shoot Lacy this month. She will be in the book as well (it's a book on color :bounce ). I don't have my proofs yet though. She must have shot CM's horses first.

I am slightly surprised you guys hadn't put that together yet though. *giggles*

CMhorses Fri, 06/12/2009 - 15:13

ACC post a few pics when you get them! They have to be gorgeous, Lacy is such a beautiful horse.

you are kidding!?!?!?!?!!!
OMG!
You have noooooo idea how much time i've spent drooling thru her gallarys, wondering why she wasn't more popular than bob whatshisface since her pictures are so many times better! Seriously. I have so many failed scetches of her pictures!!! I bet i can still find my favorite of all time somewhere...good lord!

Also, Gander, if you ever feel like stopping by north Louisiana, have I got some ponies for you!

CMhorses Fri, 06/12/2009 - 15:31

After browsing through her galleries I felt so lucky to have my 'nobody' horses photographed!

Also something neat I noticed was in the photo with the 3 paints running, how much white they have goes in order.

NZ Appaloosas Fri, 06/12/2009 - 23:37

Heck, if Gander ever wants to wander my way, I'll break out the shampoo and wash the beasties! :laugh1 :laugh1

Diane, currently with a bunch of true tri-coloured horses--base, white and mud!

CMhorses Fri, 06/12/2009 - 23:46

Mud is always a good color! I have a picture somewhere of little Fancy with her whole side covered in mud.

Oh how AWESOME!!! :bounce :bounce I had no clue either!!!
Great pics!!!! :love :love

I agree with Krickette...I'm only a hop, skip & jump from her.
I have a beautiful bay dun & gray you could photograph!!

Gander Sat, 06/13/2009 - 00:55

Oh man, you guys have me really smiling. THANKS! for the kind words! :bounce :bounce I told ACC that noone would know my work here as it's generally all racehorse photos - so thanks, thanks.

NZ Appaloosas, your note about washing your beasties made me smile. I drove 6 1/2 hours (each way) to photograph a light grey horse recently. I'd set it all up, the woman had sent bunches of photos, we'd discussed the whole reason for the visit... I sent her an e-mail the night before I was headed to her farm. When I awoke and checked e-mails, I had one from her that said something like, "Just so you know, he lives outdoors all year and it's been too cold to bathe him. He's really filthy and I don't have time to do anything about it."

I felt like writing her back and saying a.) it had been 70 degrees the day before, certainly warm enough for a bath and, b.) if he lived outdoors all year, he got a bath every time it rained. ;)

Instead, I drove the 6 1/2 hours back home....grumbling, I'm sure, about the $250 or so it cost me to drive down there and stay at a hotel :hammer .

Krickette, my ex- lived in Louisiana...I love that state! Wish I had plans to get down there.... I might get to TX, though, but time's running out so I might not.....

Thanks again!!!!

Since it takes as long as your round trip just to get to Auckland from LA, and a bit more than $250 to do so, I would definitely make sure that the horses were pretty for you to photograph! Oh, and you wouldn't have to pay for a hotel either! :laugh1

Once she'd posted something about some photos of hers and there was a link to her gallery. I got it that time.... We can all edit that out if you want to remain anonymous Gander!

Don't think I'm not thinkin' that! :rofl

NZAppaloosas, I'd love to visit you - your part of the world, I've heard, is just wonderful. Too bad I'm such a poor person..even the lure of no hotel charges can't quite make it affordable....sigh.... ;)

Some day.....

Gander Sat, 06/13/2009 - 15:22
I love the tractor pic too!! creative 8-)
Thanks, Heather! That tractor was made to be in pictures. ;)

That's the original guy I corresponded with CMHorses about. Here are a few other shots of him. Would his color be considered varnish roan? The term 'snowflake' always confuses me a bit in comparison with varnish roan. SUCH a cutie!:

Im not good with appy colors, but maybe? 8-) ...There were a bunch of incredible shots. Very nice! :flower

CMhorses Sat, 06/13/2009 - 17:54

Keep in mind he originally was the solid color on his face, and eventually started to get white around 5 years old and he is 11 now. We were told that he was supposed to be appy.

accphotography Sat, 06/13/2009 - 18:38

He looks like he has a light blanket with spots in addition to varnish.
