Cremello? Isabell???

Hi everyone, I seriously haven't posted or perused this site in ages...ok a year then. Anyway, I was wondering what color this Lusitano is. They have him listed as Isabell for color, what the heck is that? http://www.lusitanocollection.com/cupido.htm
That ain't no isabell. LOL

I agree, probably perlino.
Ok you got my curiosity up, do they have a Isabella in horses? They do in dogs I have a Isabella puppy right now, also called pearl.

Well it's not the same as pearl in horses. An isabella is an isabella palomino. It's just the palest shade of palomino, nearly white.

Ok yeah not the same, Issabella in dogs is diluted choc or brown.

They describe his mother as sorraia-color. My googling of that term says that it is a dun. Sire is buckskin so could be actually be a pearl cream rather than perlino unless the dam is actually buckskin that is being called a dun.

Edit: Nevermind, I just found another description of her as "zebra-striped dark buckskin mare."

good to see you monsterpony! You have done such a good job with countercanters mambrino. We hope to visit her (and you?) this week.

I would agree a CrCr- or possibly Pearl?
Not Isabella as we know the (stupid/pointless) term.
Personally I cannot see the point of using a term that has no genetic basis and is purely descriptive. If it is Palomino, say Palomino, if it is a pale Palomino people will, actually, be able to see that for themselves!
It does not necessarily throw pale Palomino, in fact most of the time people will be hoping that it doesn't!
OK, OK, I am grouchy, I am in pain again, but I just don't see the point (except of course when you can label the colour/pattern "rare" and get more money!) of giving ourselves work.
Sp that is Overo and Isabella now officially on my hit list

Hi. I meant to call you (CC sent me your number) but I totally spaced on it. Hopefully we can finally get our times matched up (how many years have we been trying to meet up?).

Danni Fri, 03/04/2011 - 20:11

Well being that Isabella seems to be the term for a pale creamy colour, nothing to do with genetics, calling a double dilute 'isabell' probably isn't any more or less accurate that calling a palomino an 'isabella' ;)

rabbitsfizz Sat, 03/05/2011 - 11:01

Danni, I would agree with that completely except it is already an accepted term within Palli circles, I would have thought having a Perlino would actually be more marketable than a Palomino?

Guys, This is only the spanish word for a dilute that's all...not a proper description I know but it's similar to saying "I have a dilute" instead of "I have a bay".... Just the way the Spanish speak..
