Primitive markings on a rescue horse...

I thought his markings were very interesting. h http://mnhoovedanimalrescue.org/horses.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
SMOKEY - Updated 04/23/2009 Smokey is an early teen stallion - soon to become a gelding - that we don't have much history on yet. One thing that we do know is that he possesses a rather interesting coloration - stripes that are somewhat akin to another type of equine that you might be familiar with. While not as prominent as his bretheren, Smokey's stripes are most prominent up by his whithers. We can assure you that the effect is not caused by a shadow, as there is none extended to the ground beneath him.
Well, it looks like bracketing the URL below won't allow the photo to show, so if the link below won't take you directly to the photo of Smoky, just scroll down to him (alphabetical) and click on his photo to enlarge it. http://mnhoovedanimalrescue.org/images/horses/smokey.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't know anything about him other than what the site says. I saw his picture linked at another horse site and thought I'd share it here, just because I thought he looked unusual.

He looks like a dark grullo. The stripes are probably an extreme dun expression. Either way it looks awesome. I don't think I've ever seen one with such extreme expression.

I kinda think he looks like he could be a Paso Fino. for me: his body-shape suggests it, his sickle-hocks, and the fact that he is still a stallion. Many people who have Pasos will not geld, because they live "the dream" that they may have The Next Great Fino Horse and will make a fortune with breeding him.
I hope he finds a great home.

Ha! Funny that you should comment on that! ...at the other site, someone there did the "Ooooh! Seems a shame to geld such unusual markings!" and the man who is associated with this particular rescue (he does training and training challenges to help the rehabitable horses find better homes) said this rescue will never re-home a stallion, and especially an un-papered stallion, for breeding purposes only to make even more homeless/unwanted horses for them to have to deal with.
