Yup. She doesn't really care where mom is... She is bold and is getting used to people better every day. Today she kept backing up to the fence to get her butt scratched! She learns fast! Gonna have to start halter training. She loves to explore! I can't believe how cute she is!

Well, in my great big sample size of four whole foals, I've found that my fillies are more independent than my colts. Inigo was always very attached to me, and Peanut has a funny, transferable attachment. He was distraught over the weaning process until he bonded to Georgie. Then last week when I decided I needed to separate them before Peanut figured out he could mount Georgie, he called and called until he realized he could pal around with dad. Today when I took Cory out to go running I could hear Peanut calling, "Daaaaad! Daaaaaaad!" Until we were out of hearing range. When we got back into range, he was still calling. He was very relieved to have Cory back.

My filly is dependent, lol! She's a big momma's baby, and if you're in the pasture she'll come up to you uninvited. She's especially likely to come to you if you are paying attention to another horse. If I scratch Nike, before I know it jazz is in between him and me, waiting for her turn. But she's always been like that. I've created a monster! She's a pocket pony for sure.

Awww... Poor guy :sad He needs a goat! I've found all problems could be solved with a goat! I want one! LOL.
Why not use a school pony to keep him company? If you switch him up constantly maybe he will start to be less bothered by absenses? Of course he'll be babysitting the new foals in not too long!

Ditto is such a sweetheart! Very friendly and forgiving of me when I grab and wash her butt. She'll come right back and try to suck on my nose! LOL. I just love her!
She's meeting a lot of people and loves butt scratches and neck rubs. Today I rinsed Silo off and decided to let her see what water was. She actually seemed to like it though I think she got kinda itchy. Did I mention how cute she is? :P

And my baby halter showed up today! She let me put it on and take it off several times. Then I turned her and Silo loose.
First, she tried to out run it:

Then she tried to side pass out of it:

Then she stopped and thought about it:

Then she looked at me and said "WTF"

Then she got consoled by mom:

And then went back to eating:

Yeah, it's for pony foals. Justforponies.com has them. Nice leather halter. Very supple and easy to buckle. $27 with shipping and I got it the next day though I paid for priority mail. They have great customer service as well.
Nothing on Isabelle yet???

Well, Ditto is 3 weeks old now. So far she is picking up all four feet for me though I'm lucky if I can get her to hold them up for 2 seconds. She is leading well after only 2 short sessions. She is super friendly and will leave mom to see where you are going. She is getting quite the little body on her too! She's really filling out. Yesterday I turned her out in the arena that the barrel racer uses for practice. Ditto was doing figure 8s around two barrels complete with flying lead changes and corners like she's on rails! She runs like her tail is on fire and I can't ever catch her on camera when she's flying!
Oh. And of course she's cute!

hi andrea, i am in love with ditto! she is just darling!!!

i wanted to pop in here and show you two photos. this is one of my fillies from last year and she had that 'brown' coat with no red in it. she is buckskin....here she is at two days old.
[img]http://www.arabianbreeders.net/Forums/u…]

and then after her foal coat shed off
[img]http://www.arabianbreeders.net/Forums/u…]

i would say your filly is buckskin. just that lack of 'red' in the coat and the greyish eyes makes me lean that way.

my filly got a very black/silver undercoat this winter and is now just shedding off as a yearling. she is dark gold underneath so far.

thanks again for posting these photos of your ditto - she is simply wonderful.

 Thanks!
I take the camera out there every day so I can document her life!
Is it just cause she's my first? Why isn't everyone sharing new pics of their babies? I wanna seeeee! :bounce :bounce
Of course, being in sunny California helps. I think it's raining everywhere else!
