Mist is now in Houston!

Re: Mist is now in Houston!
Oh, I remember her now. She can't be an Oldenburg. They must have put her in the ISR book which is for offspring by Oldenburg stallions and out of non-approved mares. Only TB, WB, and Arabian mares are allowed in the Oldenburg book.
My mare, Isabelle, has her Oldenburg papers and so do her sisters Faith and Irene (all out of Tiffany). However, the breeder's other mare was a Trakehner/Shire/AQHA and her two sons, Isaac and Inferno, got ISR papers because the dam could not be approved.
Re: Mist is now in Houston!
Oh, it certainly could be in the WBs, but if this mare is part APHA she can't be Oldenburg is all I'm saying. That is, unless they've decided to accept APHA in the past few years or so.
You know Art Deco, of course, who is a Dutch WB approved for Oldenburg and RPSI as well. His son State of the Art (my personal favorite of all the Silverwood stallions) is registered American Warmblood because his dam is part APHA.
Re: Mist is now in Houston!
Have you seen her papers? The ISR registry is a part of the Oldenburg registry and the horses are commonly referred to as Oldenburgs even though they do not have Oldenburg (German) papers.
Now I'm gonna go do some research to make sure they haven't changed some rules...
Re: Mist is now in Houston!
Okay, to get into the Oldenburg Main or Premium Mare Book a mare must have:
Proof of pedigree of 3 generations with more than 75% approved bloodlines* and an official registration documentation from an approved registry*.
and the approved registries are:
American Hanoverian Soc., American Holsteiner Horse Ass., Am.Trakehner Ass., Arabian Horse Registry of Am., Belgian Warmblood Breeding Ass./NA, The Dutch Warmblood Studbook in NA, North Am.Selle Francais, Swedish Warmblood Ass. NA, Jockey Club, CAN Sport Horse Ass., CAN Warmblood Horse Breeders Ass., North American Shagya-Arabian Society
From Europe: All German Warmblood Breeding Associations, Belgium, Danish, KWPN, Selle Francais, Swedish
I'm not completely understanding the 75% part because it seems they immediately contradict it by saying AND an official registration documentation from an approved registry.
I know this isn't important in the grand scheme of things, but Oldenburgs are my WB of choice and, well, I don't know really. It's just one of my buttons. Around here especially since we have Ideal so close there are a lot of people with his offspring out of unapproved mares and they still call their foals Oldenburgs and it's just always bugged me.
Re: Mist is now in Houston!
you know how pathetic it is when you reply to your own post? well, now I'm going to do it again. I'm not saying the ISR horses are necessarily less than the Oldenburgs -- it's just a separate registry. A name thing. It's like calling a half-Arabian an Arabian. I've trained two ISR geldings and one Oldenburg mare and they were all lovely and really talented.
Re: Mist is now in Houston!
She doesn't have her dam's side on allbreed, but this is her sire:

Ciera is registered and microchipped oldenburg from what I can gather, and she says she's oldenburg, but I'm not really going to delve much further into it, it's late and i have homework, lol. Either way, I remember there being a big to do over her eyes, and something about her being in a magazine or something....
but yeah, i have a big test tomorrow, lol.
it's cool, either way she's pretty pretty and talented to boot
*ETA*
on a post a long time ago she said that ciera's dam is "pinto (TB to be exact)"
so would that make things more reasonable? Can TBs be oldenburg?

Re: Mist is now in Houston!
:laugh1 Sara you are cracking me up. I don't know many people who will stay up past midnight to clarify if an animal is really and Oldenburg or not!
However, I will admit that I'd probably do the same if it were my breed of choice. Just like how western riders come into the english classes at our local shows.. this is not a breed show, and you are not riding english just because you have english tack and attire on, when your horses head is on the ground and they move slower at a trot than a human's walk! Yeah, that'd be one of my buttons.
Re: Mist is now in Houston!
I know, I'm sorry, I know I must be coming across as a total snotball. First I was just curious, then genuinely wondered if they might have changed the registration rules, then... I don't know! I had to follow it through. And it was 11:04 the last time I posted.
It might help for people to think of the ISR registry as the "half Oldenburg" registry, like the half Arabian registry, only the Oldenburg half has to be the sire. The dam and foal still need to be inspected for the foals to get papers, they just get different papers than the ones with WB, TB, or Arab dams.

I think the first time I saw a full on pinto arabian, I did the same thing!
Re: Mist is now in Houston!
I figure I'll just update here, lol.
I just read a message she left for me on a thread, and I figured i'd pass on the news::

Just small update on Mist...
Mist did a lesson yesterday with a 12 year old girl who was perfect for her. Her dad is wanting to get her a horse and this girl is a good little rider. Mist absolutly LOVED HER!!! They had a great ride and ended with jumping a small X. Katie you would have died had you seen the jawdropping trot Mist was throwing out there. She is alreay stating to build a little top line and they guys are giving her lots of groceries to help her adjust to being a working girl again. Our awesome farrier is coming out on Thursday to custom fit some purdy new shoes on her front feet to help her heel grow out a little. We won't have to keep shoes on her long maybe one round and then she can go barefoot again. Everyone at the barn is really excited to see just how much potential she has. Jason took a couple of pics last night so hopefully he will post them.
GOD I LOVE MIST!!!!!
It made me happy.
