Introducing myself...

Hi y'all!! I'm Pamela & I live in North East Texas. I purchased 2 '08 fillies, both born via the web. Lacey my gray filly was born in March of '08 via Wefoal. Took my awhile to get her papers as I changed her from bay to gray. Her sire was registered grullo, but has gone gray. He also produces roan as well. She has been confused with roan, but my girl is most definitely gray, & I'll be getting her tested for verification. :D Here is Lacey aka Six Lacey Diamonds http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/six+lacey+diamonds" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The day she arrived home (6 months old) [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/La…] [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/La…] Current pics (March) [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] Jackie my other filly is a dun & she was born in May of '08 via Marestare. Her sire is a grullo too & her dam is a pally. I'm thinkin of getting Jackie tested as well but not totally sure what to have her tested for. I'd appreciate y'alls help on that. Here is Jackie aka Trios All Jacked Up http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/trios+all+jacked+up" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The next day after she arrived home (8 months old) [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] And current pics (March) [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] [img]http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb252/KountryGirlKreationz/Horses/Ja…] I've been tryin to learn about color genetics, really reading what I can & learning from a friend on another board. I joined here to learn more so I can be as knowledgeable as I can be. So glad to be here & learn what I can. Thanks for havin me.

She was born with it but it was a light color then went to gray.
And check out this on her other leg

Hi and welcome to the forum- It's great to have new members!

Very pretty fillies you have there. If they were both mine I'd test for Extension and Agouti that would tell me what foal colours they could produce.

I have seen a sock like that before on a Chestnut non Grey mare- If she's Grey I'd contribute to it being that. Sometimes Grey does funky things. Your filly looks Roan, (though there is no test for that yet) possibly Grey though it's hard to tell if she is or not- Do you have foal photos?

PamelaTX Fri, 03/20/2009 - 03:32

Yeah I got pics from throughout from birth till now.
Will post in the "What color is my horse" thread.

I'm still convinced she's gray. She's got the gray hairs throughout her face, around the eyes. She's just goin gray a funky way. :rofl

what two cuties.

could she be a bay roan that is going grey? I've seen a couple of roans go grey and that is what she reminds me of...regardless--cutie!

Hello NE texas from NW louisiana! *waves across state line*
I have a grey filly that I didn't want to be grey, lol! She was born jet black though and then didn't start really showing grey (just sabino ticking) till fairly recently, probably when she was about 2.5 years. It's slowed down again though, but I'm excited about the spring too! I was out with a shedding stone the other day trying to speed up the process (shame on me!)

Welcome Pamela, Welcome to the forum. You have some beautiful fillies. :flower

I, too, am very familiar with marestare - I have spend most of my days the last two weeks watching "mare movies"...seen some awesome deliveries and missed even more. (Where are those eyelid toothpicks? )

Here's another wave from just across the state line, this time from Oklahoma. :-h

I'm in McCurtain County which borders Texas on the south and Arkansas on the east. Where are you located?

Yes, I've been through there several times, but not recently.

Songcatcher,

One of these days I'd love to make a trip over to your place and see your minis in person. We live north of Fort Smith but my Dad lives about 20 miles west of Idabel.

20 miles west of Idabel? I can probably throw a rock to his house from here. I'm just on the west side of Valliant and about a mile north of the paper mill. What is your Dad's name? I may know him.

Daylene Alford Sat, 03/28/2009 - 20:03

Oh lol my other west...I meant east

He lives about 3 miles from the Arkansas line a bit North and East of Idabel.

I had 2 uncles and a cousin that used to work at the paper mill. They are all retired now though.
My dad works at the paper mill in Ashdown, AR. His name is Roger Shelton. If you ever go to any of the basketball games in the county you probably know him :laugh1

The name Shelton rings a bell, but I can't place it for certain. My wife goes to lots of ball games while I stay home and take care of the horses. :whip
