What breed of dog do you own ?

Forums

I have 2 Australian Cattle Dogs, a blue female, Star and a red male River. We have had 1 litter all turned out red, plan a litter in Aug and hope to get some blues this time. My female if so photogentic, male always looks dumb so have to delete half his photos, her are a few pictures of my Heelers. I'm also testing out if I can figure out how to post photos. I have two dogs, but I only claim one. I have a Siberian Husky, a female named Nayana. "Nayana" comes from a Hindii word that means "one with beautiful eyes." She is a big lover...loves people, children, cats, anything. She is incredibly gentle (and tolerant) of my two-year-old daughter, and she loves being part of the family. I've had her since she was about eight weeks old.

My husband has a Boston Terrier named Gizmo. (As I said...not my dog.) Gizmo is old, ugly, smelly, and senile. He has the IQ of a cement block, as far as I can tell, and absolutely refuses to die despite being 11...about two years past the age when Bostons kick the bucket. In fact, he has no health problems whatsoever, and I think he's immortal. He does it to spite me. I used to think it was because he'd made some kind of deal with the devil, but now I've decided it's because God doesn't want him either. I tried to sell him at a yard sale once for 50 cents, but got no takers.

Horsegen, I thought of you last year when E and I broke up. The breakup was nasty but.... the chihuahua is gone!!!! So that means that I got rid of my ugly, stupid, smelly, useless little dog before you managed to get rid of yours. Bam!

horsegen Sat, 03/14/2009 - 19:35
OMG!!! WANT!!! :o
Well, you can't have. ;) But thank you anyway. She is a beautiful girl! Besides, you would have to inherit the cost of the radiation treatments!
So that means that I got rid of my ugly, stupid, smelly, useless little dog before you managed to get rid of yours. Bam!
Crap. So you're saying I have to divorce my husband to lose the dog...I was hoping I could just hire someone to do him in...or take him for free...or maybe even let him go after the garbage truck next week, like he always wants to. The truck would SO win. CC, I am so jealous...

8-) Oh..... I SO want(ed) to teach one of my own to do that! Cannot tell you why, but I just do.

vneerland Sun, 03/15/2009 - 09:50

I am attracted to every wire hair in your pictures Heather. And I cannot tell you why! Maybe because it makes them look even feistier? :o
What is the lurcher? Greyhound times what?

Heather Sun, 03/15/2009 - 09:53

He is Grey /border collie/beardie collie cross... his sire works with falcons/or harris hawk? and doxies and mother is/was a coyote dog .

It is illegal to hire someone to do your husband in! :o But I might take him for free. What is keeping me back is that you're saying he wants to chase he garbage truck. I prefer men who make their living in different ways, garbage chasers are not on the top of my list.

What's a doxie? And coyote dog as in coydog, the hybrids? :o
The collie families sure don't show in him. Wow.

Heather Sun, 03/15/2009 - 10:00

You gonna make me spell that arnt you lol...dachshund= lazy speller doxie.

They do coyote nusience control for farmers, real coyotes. :D

RF - :laugh1 :rofl :laugh1 :rofl

VL & HG - The plot thickens :rofl :laugh1 :rofl

HG, you could always feed the BT to the coyotes for lunch and then sympathize with hubby by getting him a husky puppy.... :angel

Well, on the plus side, he is a garbage-chasing veterinarian, so I get all these lovely discounts. :D The surgery to remove Nayana's tumor cost $130. He accuses me all the time of marrying him only for free veterinary care. I tell him it didn't hurt his case. ;)
HG, you could always feed the BT to the coyotes for lunch and then sympathize with hubby by getting him a husky puppy.... :angel
Here's my problem...if anything happens to that dog I'm the main suspect! It has to really look like an accident! Feeding to the coyotes...even if we had any coyotes in Sacramento, that would be tough. I like where your head's at, though.

Problem #2: Hubby does not want another husky, even though Nayana is a wonderful dog. He says he doesn't think he could handle "fur squared". But I shall implement that as a separate evil plan after Gizmo's "past-timely" demise.
You gonna make me spell that arnt you lol...dachshund= lazy speller doxie.
:o I would never have guessed. But pronouncing it out loud helps. Like the man who told me he bred rockwelders. Bred them, mind you. If he can't spell it.........
Well, on the plus side, he is a garbage-chasing veterinarian, so I get all these lovely discounts. :D
I did remember that. ;) But you will have to admit, if he has time to chase the garbage truck....... (he might not have a very busy practice?) :laugh1

Everyone has beautiful dogs !

I think Huskies are just gorgeous, I had and raised a few litters back when I was in high school.
The 1st one is my first very own dog and the blk male & red female are 2 of her pups.

Still having trouble with photos, why is the writing showing up in the post too

horsegen Mon, 03/16/2009 - 23:05

My husband really likes the reds...he's always said that if we DID get another husky, he'd want a red. I myself am very partial to the silvers...after the blacks, of course! Nayana's breeder produces all the colors--gray, black and red, so if we ever chose to get another puppy from her, we'd certainly have our pick! Nayana's dam is no longer breeding, of course, but her sire still is, so every now and then a litter of her half-brothers and half-sisters hits the ground and I drool over one or two...sigh. D**n that ugly little dog!

horsegen Tue, 03/17/2009 - 18:59
He's got to kick the bucket eventually --
How many times I have said this to myself...almost like a mantra...and yet, he remains.

Did I mention that he now has to wear an e-collar at all times? It's because he's obsessive compulsive about licking his front feet, and if you take the cone off, he will lick them until they are raw and bleeding. So NOW I have this ugly, smelly little dog who's always running into things with the d**n cone, and I'm embarrassed to be seen walking down the street with him. :x

I take it the divorce option is out of the question? Oh wait, there's the discounted vet care... you're right. It's the garbage truck or back to the waiting game.

horsegen Tue, 03/17/2009 - 23:44
Do you have a car that has a reverse, horsegen?
Do NOT tempt me. He peed on the kitchen floor tonight. Why, God, why? :hammer
I take it the divorce option is out of the question? Oh wait, there's the discounted vet care...
Yes, the husband is worth FAR more than the dog...
Do NOT tempt me. He peed on the kitchen floor tonight. Why, God, why? :hammer
Paying for past lives mistakes.
My husband has a bitch that I dearly hate! I have thought evil thoughts when it comes to her well being. Or what I could do to legally rid myself of her. I am sure husband would never believe I did not see her, when backing up. And anyway, I would be the sucker to rush her sorry behind to the vet if it ever happened. I had her spayed and pleaded with the vet to drop a bleeder. In front of a waiting room full of other customers too. He did not. Well, he...scolded me, because that is what 'almost' happened and would I please not tempt fate like that anymore. Now, all I have to hold on to, is the fact that he said it was a "weak looking mess" inside. But that has been well over a year ago, so with my luck? I have about 10 more years ahead of me with this specimen. :x So I too, am paying dearly for past lives. And I am leaving the &^^%$ dog alone, in fear of having another one just like this in my next life!

Thought I would join the fun here, my boyfriend and I have 3 dogs. The first one we got early last year as a pup, her name is Lucy, she is 3/4 Blue Heeler and 1/4 Australian Cattle Dog.
As a pup:
[img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147…]
All grown up, thinking the recliner is her's:
[img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147…]

A few weeks after getting Lucy we traded a kennel for Bandit...he is mine all mine, I don't know what I would do without my baby boy. He is 3/4 Timber Wolf, 1/4 Husky. Mom is half Timber Wolf, half Husky, Dad (rest his soul - he had to be put down just a couple weeks ago) was a black Timber Wolf. One of my best friends breeds Wolf Hybrids, she lives just a few minutes from my house and I got him from her.
As a pup:
[img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147…]
120 pounds later:
[img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147…]
Yes I love you too but you're heavy so get off me:
[img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147…]
Playing with (more like getting beat up by) Lucy:
[img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147…]

Then as if 2 dogs wasn't enough lol, my boyfriend decides Lucy just isn't cutting it as a cattle dog and buys our Red Heeler, his name is Rebel, Dad is blue and mom is red. We have only had him about 8 weeks, he was born Jan. 30th.
He sleeps on his back most of the time:

We used to have a wolf hybrid. He was 1/4 timber wolf, 1/4 Alaskan Malamute and 1/2 Norwegian Elk Hound. I'll have to see if I can't dig a photo up. He could have been a litter mate of yours.
