Dunalino??

This is my mare Shadowplay Sahara Moon - bred by Rabbitzfizz. She is out of a Red Dun mare which is why I am asking. Slaney is a pale Palomino even in her summer coat and in winter with all the hair tends to look more white. But once she starts to shed she has a very distinctive Dorsal stripe but I dont know if its a false dorsal or if she is in fact a Dunalino. She has darker legs in fact they tend to have a sort of sooty look about them - like she was very dirty and a paler body and then the dorsal. This is the best pic I have of her and you can probably make out the dorsal. My computer crashed and I lost all my photos and I am trying to piece togther some pics from different people. I will take a better picture later on c. May when she starts to shed out naturally and get one of the dorsal on her back

I would have said dunalino too , whos the sire ? he would have to carry cream

Based on the mare's name, I am guessing the sire is Shadowplay Mighty Atom (Rabbit - as in Rabbitsfizz's stud) - and from his pix, I'd say he carries cream.

CK- are you saying Rabbit (Rabbitfizz's Rabbit) is cream? He is a flaxen red dun, no cream at all.

Slaney is out of a mare called Alfoxton Amber Moon and her sire is Asils Sahara Snow Storm - Dont know what colour the sire was but I am guessing thats where the cream came from and the dam was a red dun.
Here is a pic of Slaney as a foal with her dam

I agree- Dunalino mare.

Rabbit's Rabbit carries no Cream

are you sure that mare is dun she looks flaxen/chestnut to me , I thought dun is supposed to dilute colour and she looks very rich and I dont see dun characteristics like face mask or eartips

Bannerminis Sat, 03/07/2009 - 06:03

Well I was told and also by Rabbitsfizz that her dam was a red dun. Slaney comes from a line of spotty's and duns.
I was told her sire was a Palomino base near leopard so thats where the cream comes from. Of course in that pic Slaney's dam is in her winter woolies and they always look different in their winter attire :) .

you should get some great coloured foals from her , is she in foal for '09 ?

rabbitsfizz Fri, 03/20/2009 - 12:26

Rabbit has no Cream, he is a Red Dun.
Twit, Slaney's sire was a Palomino base near Leopard

this is the only pic I have on photobucket, so sorry about that!!! Can't see the spots but they are there, I promise!!
Slaney is a Dunalino, Amber in her summer coat is the same colour as Rabbit.

critterkeeper Sat, 03/21/2009 - 16:46

I was just looking at his pix and didn't know his color, so I just guessed at possible cream. I'm sorry
(see what happens when you assume -- :booty )
