What breed of dog do you own ?

Forums

I have 2 Australian Cattle Dogs, a blue female, Star and a red male River. We have had 1 litter all turned out red, plan a litter in Aug and hope to get some blues this time. My female if so photogentic, male always looks dumb so have to delete half his photos, her are a few pictures of my Heelers. I'm also testing out if I can figure out how to post photos. You can upload the pictures as an attachment

Or you can use the
[img][/img]
tages. Just past the link to the picture between the tags. Hope that helps!

Lovely dogs!!!! Those puppies are just to adorable!!!!

I have a Border Collie. She is tri-colored and sort of a mix between smooth and rough coat. Her dad came from Scotland and her mom from Ireland. It is our hope to breed her later this year. :bounce I'll have to dig up some pictures of her.

TwinCreeksFarm Thu, 02/26/2009 - 16:47

We're currently dogless. Hubby and I can't agree on what sort to get to replace our rottie. I want a basset or a wolfie, he's not keen on either :(

Okay, I have owned so MANY dogs in my life, it would be like an encyclopedia of canines (including more than one wolf). We have drastically cut back so right now all we have are 5 beagles: 4 tricolors (3 also have blueticking), 1 chocolate-ticked; a Bernese Mountain Dog; a black lab and a lab mix (both females); a bloodhound male; a German/Aussie shepherd mix; a blue merle Aussie female (lousy on horses, but loves to herd goats/sheep); and a red merle Aussie/Rottie cross male (best horse dog in the world).

NZ Appaloosas Fri, 02/27/2009 - 22:53

sounds like an even dozen to me... :toast

MP, I'm all for the wolfhound too. Could've smacked hubby the other day when he was talking about this guy who had a wolfie. He didn't bother finding out where the dog came from, was the guy a breeder, etc.... :BH :hammer

critterkeeper Sat, 02/28/2009 - 20:03

Yep, NZ is right - just an even dozen. A far cry from the 30+ we had this time 2 yrs ago, but since the county opened an adoption center, my "intake" in way down (thank heavens). :love

I do plan on buying another Pyr to replace Mariah, the one we lost a couple of years back - I sure do miss her, she was a great watchdog. I may get two or three as they do work well in groups and if all the dogs lost that day had been her size, we may not have lost any to "the cat". :sad

NZ - As for your Hubby not asking the appropriate questions on the wolfie, maybe, just maybe, he didn't WANT to know the answers. That way you couldn't worm it out of him - every so gently using your womanly charms ... :whip :hammer

critterkeeper Sun, 03/01/2009 - 14:55

Yep, a full-sized one that was coming across the pasture to attack my hubby and son who were out doing cleanup after the loggers left a mess. They were gathering up debris, piling it up and burning it.

The dogs, Mariah, Little Man and Fozzie (Pyr, Aus. Shep., and Aus. Terrier) all went after the mountain lion to keep it from getting to them. They stopped it, but Mariah and Fozzie were killed outright and Little Man had to be put down as the vet said they couldn't do anything for him.

My son ran to the house when all heck broke loose and got the shotgun and took off after the cat while hubby went to help the dogs. Ben chased the cat for about 2 miles on foot (until he got plumb tuckered out) and then came home. The cat was back the next day, but didn't bother anyone that we know of, but later they found a den below where hubby and son had been working and it appeared there'd been cubs in it (they were gone by the time it was found).

Edited to add: Oh, but NC Wildlife Conservation Officers swear there are NO mountain lions in NC outside of the Great Smokey Mtns. Too bad the local TV station got VIDEO of one walking along the woodline about 15 miles outside Winston-Salem that same year. They average over 20 sightings a year.

I remember seeing Besties! I fell in love and wanted one. I used to have a malti poo, and she looked a lot like my firend's Bichon, but with a little apricot. best dog ever.

I have:
2 Border Collies: Abbie, black and white female, and Beaux, Black with very little white male.
1 German Shorthair Pointer: Brooks
(We had a good registered name for him, can't remember though, something like Brookshire Blue or something. We got him in Brookshire, Texas, and his grandaddy is Blue Earth Rex or something. I dunno, some famous hunting dog....it's rare to have it so close on his papers now a days... His name was Brooks when we got him, though. They also had a dog named Ezra from the same litter, lol, so i'll give you a guess where it came from)

and because I can:

I have 3 dogs - Taz he is a Cheasapeake Bay Retriever, Connie who is a rescue dog she is a lurcher/greyhound cross and Jess who is a GSD - her mother is a Canadian GSD and her father a Black and Tan GSD.
My computer crashed and I lost all my picture but will post some at some stage.

Bannerminis Mon, 03/02/2009 - 17:42

I found this pic of Chad and Jess sharing a moment. Jess is very affectionate and is always licking either Taz or Connie on the face whether they like it or not
Jess also likes to get Connie to play a game I like to call "Kill Jess" She keeps at Connie to play even when Connie doesnt want to and wont stop till she give in so Connie then plays where they chase Jess round the garden and then Connie catches her by the throat and this game can go on for 20 mins with Taz barking like a lunatic - my dogs are a little crazy :D

[img]http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t35/…]

Oh and I have this pic too of another game of "Kill Jess" only not with Connie trying to throttle her it was one of my mini foals

We also have a Tara & a Mia, as well as a Tasha & a Shep

Tara is our English Springer Spaniel - Tasha is our English Setter. They are both hunting dogs.

[img]http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k7/mo…]

Mia is our full pedigree JRT (who really loves her Aunty Tasha)
Mia is in pup (can call her Moma Mia then :D ) and she is a rare enough JRT because she is an Irish Kennel Club registered JRT - not too many of them about and she is bred to a full pedigree JRT as well, so hopefully some nice little JRT pups. She is very small, about 8" to the whithers
I just love little puppies :love

[img]http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k7/mo…]

[img]http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k7/mo…]

Shep is our German Shepherd/collie cross, who is trained to herd sheep, but these days he herds horses :whip

Krickette Wed, 03/04/2009 - 01:22

That makes me miss my english setters...they were such great dogs. Our female was from good hunting and trial lines, but she was gunshy (which is how we ended up with her), and our male was a neighbor's dog that kept running away and would wind up on our land. That dog was a beefcake. The owner was a bodybuilder, and Charlie ate what that guy ate... raw eggs and such... So the guy was like, since Charlie likes it at y'alls place so much, do you want him? He was a great dog, they both were. The guy I got my GSP didn't have too much nice to say about them, though, lol ;)

I finally remembered to hook my external hard drive to my laptop so here are the pics.

August, the wolfhoundXJRT- This is the only digital pic I have of him, which is a scanned photo from when he was a puppy.

Since I don't have any cats or dogs at the moment, here are my pets:

Julie, as a teeny tiny baby (plus Meredith's bum). She is a blue, hooded rex.
[img]http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j294/…]

Meredith, also as a baby in my roommate's pocket. She is a blue, berkshire rex and is Julie's sister.

Teehee, I find it amusing that my rats are more pedigreed than my dogs.

My fish:
My 92 gallon community tank (this is an old pic, there are 46 fish in there now.)

Oh RF - what a variety you have enjoyed sharing your home with... :love

I love Tibetan Spaniels and Austrailian Terriers -- to LOOK at, but they can be a real pain to own and train (they have minds of their own :hammer )...
