Modifiers vs white patterns

How are roan, rabicano, LP and/or PATN classified? Are they modifiers or white patterns? Starting the white pattern and modifiers page and need to make sure I have everything in the right place. Thanks, Daylene

I consider a modifier as something that changes the type of pigment in the hair shaft. Both grey and agouti are modifiers in my opinion. Dilutions I call the genes that change the amount of pigment in the hair shaft like cream reduces it and sooty increases it.

I call the spotting patterns, (tobiano, sabino, ect) pattern genes patrly because the expression is so vaired and roan a modifyer because it has the same effect (pretty much) whatever.

Guess it just depends.
