help with dun

this is a British shetland pony , she has a dorsal stripe , leg bars , face mask ,ear tips and striped hooves , my question is about the mane colour , is this the effect that the dun has on a flaxen mane , or is it caused by something else ? It was suggested to me that she may be dunalino , her dam looks chestnut/flaxen and her sire looks red/white but he is described as cream/white , she herself is registered as a cream dun !!!! (she came from a large well known UK stud )

Dun can add what is called frosting to manes and tails. It is usually not as extensive as your pony but then again I'm not very familiar with dun's expression in ponies.

Given that the dam is a flaxen chesnut, my best guess would be flaxen red dun. She could be a dunalino if one of the parents carried cream. I don't really see cream in that one picture but I have seen horses test positive for cream before that I didn't think would.

I think Daylene is onto something with the possible dunalino suggestion. I would not be the lest bit surprised if this adorable pony tested pos. for cream.

I see flaxen red dun, not really the right base color to be a dunalino in my experience.

In British miniatures, this colour is a red/chestnut Dun, I doubt Cream at all in this super little girl. The Dun can lighten to look like a Palamino but a true Dunalino is a LOT lighter in colour than this.

I think maybe monsterpony and admin have it - flaxen red dun , that was my first thought too , it was the description of the sire that confused me , thanks everyone
