Color of my quarter horse colt?

<p>Hi! This is my first time on this website and I'm impressed with how much you all know about color genes!&nbsp; I've been trying to figure out the color of my colt since he was born- although I'm pretty sure he's grey. He's changed several times- he's about 6 months now.&nbsp; His mom is a buckskin and dad is grey, but I've never seen him. I presume dad is sorrel-based since that seems to be predominant in his family.&nbsp; Any help would be greatly appreciated! (sorry my pics aren't very good)</p>

I looked at this pics and then read your text.  My first thought was "gray".  So I agree that he is going gray; Palomino going gray.  It is quite common for palominos that gray to get very "sooty" looking before they finally start to lighten up.  Some even get dark manes and tails so that people will swear that they have a buckskin or bay base color.  The line on his back is either countershading or caused by gray.  Gray will often cause "false dun" markings.  

Cute colt btw.  I bet he will be a dandy.
