What color is this dog?

This is a dog I've seen at the dog park a couple times, owner says Kip is a doberman lab mix.  I see that he has a brindle underbelly, but I thought if a dog was brindle it was brindle all over, but I have a limited understanding of dog genetics.

He is a high tan or creeping tan with brindle.  When brindle is present with black and tan the brindle only shows in the tan areas.  High tan and creeping tan are both black and tan with a modifier to limit the black areas.   He must have gotten the brindle from the lab.  Most labs are dominant black but brindle is present in the gene pool.  Occasionally brindle and tan labs are born.

He is a great example may I add him to the gallery?
