The 2013 Foaling Season Has Begun!
Forums
I'm so excited. I've been lucky enough to post about the foaling seasons at Ancient Oaks Sport Horses and MLM Arabians for some years now; and the 2013 season has, once again, begun for both of them!
Ancient Oaks have been breeding horses since..oh..time immemorial. They have somewhere around 40+ years in the horse business. But time marches on, and they have decided this will be their last breeding season.
MLM Arabians began breeding in 2008. The two programs have been intertwined ever since MLM Arabians acquired the last breeding stallion Ancient Oaks ever produced, an Arabian named AO Breeze.
MLM Arabians leased the AO mare, Angelina Wind, to breed to Breeze last year. This was a special event for all parties involved. Prior thread here - [url=http://colorgenetics.info/expecting-spe… a Special Foal[/url]. Angie was leased back for another foal this year, but this time the sire is an up and coming young stallion named Montana Firenze.
Angie foaled out a HUGE colt on May 8th.

Breeze himself has sired one
Breeze himself has sired one foal this year, for an outside client, out of an Arabian racing mare. The mare is technically a French/Polish cross, in Arabian breeders' slang; her sire was a French stallion, her dam an imported Polish mare. The French lines are somewhat controversial in the world of purebred Arabian breeding, for 2 reasons: their successes on the track have almost completely usurped other bloodlines; and their lack of, what some say, is traditional type. This has led to speculations of impurity. Thus, this cross can be seen as both speculative and interesting, as it would be a test of how much Breeze could stamp "type" on a complete outcross to his old, but more traditional "show" lines.
