confused about champagne

I was just reading about champagne colors, prompted by some pictures on another forum posting pics of champagne horses.  The pics showed horses with dark skin, the champagne site said they will have pink with mottles. Some might have so many mottles the skin appears dark from a distance but the pics that were being posted definitely were dark skin.

When I look at the pictures on this site  it seems some have dark skin also. 

Could someone explain please.

How did they look compared to the skin of this horse?

I think if you compare the skin of the above horse to the skin of a non-dilute horse the skin of the non-dilute is much darker.  

What you are seeing above is (if I'm remembering correctly) known as "pumpkin" skin and is fairly common in champagne horses.
