Alfalfa hay and dapples

Just wondered from those of you that show in the PHBA color class, do you know if feeding alfalfa hay increases dapples in your horses' coats? Someone told me to avoid alfalfa if I want to show in the color class. So, just wanted anyone's experience with this. Thanks.

In horses that are prone to dappling better nutrition can increase the dappling. So it is possible, that going from a poor quality hay to a hay of higher quality whether it be alfalfa or a high quality grass hay could increase the dappling. As long as your horses have proper balanced nutrition I see no reason to suspect that alfalfa would cause more dappling.
