The mystery Appy foal was, in fact, by Carlos, whose dam must be hiding Appy somewhere (she is a very "spotty" red pinto) I had the foal PQ'd and it came back as Carlos was the sire. The dam of the foal is by a Silver Black who is by an Appy and, as I understand the new Appy rules, this means she is hiding an Appy gene, so she supplied half and so did Carlos.
Anyway, Carlos is now exhibiting quite a lot of Pintaloosa markings and I have given up worrying when his foals have Appy characteristics!
Does anyone know if this means he could throw a Fewspot?

pretty much what Admin said. He most likely would throw a snowcap, if he's showing blanket-type markings, but in a nutshell, yes he can sire LpLp if put to a mare with Lp...of course, he could also throw his pinto gene(s) as well, so you could end up with a double HZ for Lp and whatever pinto genes he has, if matched to a genetic "twin".

He has already thrown two Pintaloosas (not well marked, snowflake on rump markings, as he is himself) from a mare who would appear to "carry" something- she is o/o a well spotted mare with all spotted ancestry, but has herself no whit at all except a "roaned" patch below one eye.
