Where's the white from?

Yeah, the old Crabbet
Yeah, the old Crabbet breeding - that great grandsire in the back, Serafix? He's doubled on him in the sireline, and he's got a lot of flashy descendents. Rakafix x Shanna, Rakafix being a son of Serafix, and Shanna a granddaughter of Abu Farwa....We actually have Abu Farwa in the historical gallery. They didn't have huge amounts of white themselves, but it's bred down that way. Raffon too, he was a bay base, but 4 white socks and a star. Barich de Washoe is another recognizable name, that was a big spanish stallion, another chestnut with moderate white. Throw all that in the mixing pot, and you'll get flashy red bases pretty easily.
This is a grandson of Serafix, a good example of the same general type of breeding. He is probably as close up as you can get to Serafix in a horse that is still alive. His sire doesn't have a photo, but I can tell you he was a chestnut with a blaze and socks on all feet.
Thank you for the
Thank you for the information! He is one of my school horses and I get asked by everyone what the white is and about white in Arabs. I am just not familiar with Arabians in general and especially the older lines to ever answer very clearly. So when I ran across is papers the other, I thought someone on here would be able to help.
There is a lot of high white
There is a lot of high white in his ancestors...like RAHAS, ABU ZEYD, RIJMA, RABIYAS, RASIMA, RIFNAS...just to name a few. I suspect the genes were there all along, just his predecessors had a supressor holding the white expression back that this fella didn't inherit. Anybody else have any theories?
Edit to add: I didn't type all the caps on the names, just copied and pasted them...no offense anyone.. ymwhisle
