Expecting a Special Foal...

Forums

Ancient Oaks did not breed anything last year, so I am having to live vicariously through MLM Arabians! They are expecting their first foal by their stallion, A.O. Breeze. Breeze was actually bred by Ancient Oaks, and acquired by MLM Arabians in 2009. Shown by his amateur owner, Breeze promptly started winning all over the place. Greenbroke, he was then put with an open trainer to learn jumping. After 39 days training - total - he took the reserve championship at the Arabian/Half Arabian National Sporthorse show. I believe he remains the only horse to ever win both jumping and halter titles on his breed circuit. MLM leased a grey mare, Angelina Wind, from Ancient Oaks last year to get this foal. Angelina Wind has only produced one other offspring, a filly by the Hanoverian stallion, DeLaurentis. They were presented to the GOV last year, and approved. It's worth noting that Angelina Wind was 17 years old at the time, only 14.2 hh, and had been taken straight from pasture. She had a broken hock as a youngster, and although started under saddle, has not done a day of work in her life. She is also half-sister to the well known open circuit, purebred Arabian jumper, Russian Roulette. Angelina's foal is due at the end of the month. It will be a very special event for all parties involved. Send good thoughts! Also send "filly" thoughts - they're hoping for a filly. MLM has bred a foal 4 times, and produced 4 colts. They are hoping to break the streak this time. Also, name suggestions are welcome! You said the foal was due the end of the month...do you have an exact date? Will the mare be on cam? After teasing us with this pairing, the least you can do is throw us a bone... :bounce :rofl

Yes, definitely going grey. We'll see how fast it happens. I'll put him up in the gallery as a progression. He has more white than I expected..I don't think Angie has much white, and Breeze almost none at all, so I was a bit surprised. But perhaps on the red base, what he got from his dam expressed more. I think she is a bay base. Anyway, he seems a nice colt, they say he is better than his sire. I think Breeze is the last breeding representative of his tail male line too, so anything he puts on the ground is good insurance.

I'm generally not a big Arabian fan but I really like this foal and I also like his sire.

He has so much bone! That is one boy who is not meant to just stand around and look pretty. Although he definitely is pretty!

Very reminiscent of the Arab types I saw in the Middle East, especially the tribal Arabs...extremely nice!
