Agouti Zygousity

So I've been thinking. Since there seems to be a correlation with brown zygousity and its appearance, might this be true for the allele for common bay? :-? Just wondering what you guys think.

Heterozygous browns that have been tested often appear seal brown, while some homozygous browns appear more like dark bays.

Thanks for that. We have a filly that is brown, her sire was brown and her dam is black. So that makes sense as she has lighter points (like a seal brown). Is bay dominant to brown? So a heterozygous brown would have to be Ata?

Yup exactly ^_^
If the sire was bred to a Bay the foal could be Bay since it would inherit it from the dam. Since Brown is the most recessive of the agouti alleles Brown x Brown matings can only pass on the 'At' or 'a' alleles on the agouti locus.

Isn't self (i.e. non-agouti) the most recessive allele on agouti?
