Finally got a colt! UPDATED - new pixs

Forums

:toast Maya finally decided to foal early this morning (only day 356 for her - ~x( ) and blessed us with our 1st colt out of 3 breeding seasons (he is Luna's 12th foal and only son)... He is a whopping 44 inches tall and weighing in at over 117 lbs...he is HUGE - even bigger than 3 week old Storm. :love Okay, introducing Maya's colt (temporarily calling him Mason - hubbys choice for the first colt, but has not changed his mind) [IMG]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/jcritterkeeper/Mayascoltcropped.j…] [IMG]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/jcritterkeeper/1stcoltMason.jpg[/…]

But I do have Patches (bay Paint mare) and Samantha (dark bay - not seal/brown) bred to him for later in the year...so I'm hoping for a bucky yet... ymwhisle

I told hubby we couldn't cut him until I got my bucky...then he is heading out to the vet's clinic on the next surgery day... :rofl

Edit once for P.S.
The top pix is cropped & resized but not edited for color/brightness or any pix alterations - that is his true color...georgeous isn't he...he is the same color as Goldie (his full 2-yr old sister). The bottom was a glaring pix from the angle of the sun.

OK, now I wanna see pics of him and his half sister together! Soooo cute! They both have the cutest little stars!!!

Krickette, I only have a couple...he won't stand still long enough to get a good shot if another horse is within a couple feet of him (other than momma of course)...he even went over to investigate Darwin (our 20 yr old gelding) and when Darwin lifted his hind foot in a threat to kick him, he kicked Darwin instead...he is gonna be a handful (and gelded ASAP)

Here you go Krickette, new pixs of the former "Mason" now named Thor (hubby said that he was a hulking blond crusading thunderstorm in the making (after he tried to chase our 20 yr old gelding Darwin off of his feed)...lol

first is him resting so you can see his countershading...strangely, his hair of the countershading is raised and looks more like a Rhodesian Ridgeback than a colt. I bet more than one person mistakes him for a red dun :-? NOT! :rofl

You asked for pixs of him and Storm together and this is as close as mommas would let them get...you will notice that even though he is a good 5 ft behind her (downhill to boot) he is obviously a much larger foal (she is

And he is so slick and nearly hairless compared to Storm who is still just starting her foal shed...he doesn't have much to shed... ymwhisle
OMG he has a ridge of hair on his dorsal??? My yearling colt, Locke, had that last year, too!
Yep, he has a ridge of hair running with his dorsal from mane down into his tail...I am just surprised he doesn't have that crazy cobwebby raised hair on his face all the rest of Luna's foals have..I know it's just countershading, but it is neat.

Congratulations. What are they looking like nowadays? You do realize they need to go in the galleries - right?
