Re: Hi everyone. Texas girl here. :)
Here is my grade gray Quarter Horse mare. She is such a sweetheart! She has some foundation quarter horse blood in her... I just haven't been able to get in touch with her breeder. I am going to have her dna tested someday. :) I really think she was originally a black mare that has a gray gene. Let me know your thoughts about what you think her base color is (bay, chestnut, black). Thanks :) The last picture is of her just relaxing during the day and letting the breeze blow in her hair. Lol.

Re: Hi everyone. Texas girl here. :)
Hey there again! :) Yea that is Duke...at a local Christmas parade in 2007. Its an older picture ...but always my favorite when it comes to holiday time! Haha. I don't think he wanted too much to do with it though LOL. :rofl But he was soooo cute! He had a big red bow on his tail about half way down and red protective boots on his legs. I also made a cover for my saddle pad and pinned it to it. It was red and I got some white fluffy material to sow around the edges. He was so adorable! Lol :-D I'll have to see if I can find a full body shot somewhere.

Elvis is no longer a baby anymore so I'll just put some up of him in newer pics. I also posted some younger pics of him in another post. He is an AQHA palomino colt (Hollys Boondoc King). The second pic is in his turnout blanket with the herd. Duke(Maroon), Holly(hot pink), Bella(tan). The last pic has been modified by an app I was playing around with on my phone Lol.

Re: Hi everyone. Texas girl here. :)
And last but not least this is Chance, my dad's grade paint horse. We've had him about 10 years and he has just been a yard ornament for most of those years. Lol. He is a very easy keeper most of the time so I guess its not that bad. :) Unfortunately, I don't but a handful of pictures of him. So you'll just have to ignore the dirt.... Who knows maybe I'll take some newer ones of him sometime.

Re: Hi everyone. Texas girl here. :)
Thanks dakotakdq and Jenks! She is a sweetheart! I feel in love with her when I first saw her. :) Lol Sorry I don't know them. I went to the Texas A&M that's closest to me in north east Texas. Which one did they go to? The main one at college station?
Oh yeah I figured because they only tend to get lighter at their prime then back possibly flea-bitten later on with their original color. She is going to be 9 years old this coming spring.
Re: Hi everyone. Texas girl here. :)
Ops! He went there, I thought he worked there, but it's TCU he works for...!! LOL He's my Uncle. He's on a bunch of committee's or something for Texas A&M...
Since she is still retaining so much black, I'd bet she is black based. Chestnuts tend to go white much faster! She is really pretty!
Re: Hi everyone. Texas girl here. :)
Lol well that's ok, I don't recognize the name. :)
That's what I figured. I saw a chestnut that was white by the time he was about 13 or 14 and then he really started to have flea-bitten color come out in a chestnut color. It was like everywhere! I also saw a black or (dark brown) horse that didn't have the flea-bitten until it was much older in age and even then it wasn't like the chestnuts. Thanks for your response. :)
Re: Hi everyone. Texas girl here. :)
Yes I've heard about that.
I was wondering if Bella was Heterozygous or Homozygous for Gray...? I hope and think she is only heterozygous. I don't know if I really want a gray foal .... they are pretty when they get older...I was just looking forward to breeding her to a Buckskin, Dun, or some other dilute color... I really love the dilute babies and I like Duns too. Lol. But I guess as long as its healthy I can't complain.
Thank you :) I really want to breed her this next year but not sure yet. I think she is so sweet and would be a GREAT mama. And she is nice and "big bodied", she would throw some big sized babies I think. I'll have to keep you guys updated on if I'm going to breed her or not. :) Its been nice meeting all of you! I do look forward to talking to you more in the future on other topics. :flower
