Re: Mystic Warrior, the Appy Friesian
His registered name is Ramon aka Romeo. Dianne and Alainna used to work closely with my dad. Romeo was in training with my dad before Dianne took him since dad worked exclusively with the Melotts. Dianne uses shock collars to train her young horses for these "liberty" movements. We ended up losing our friendship with the Melotts over Dianne and Alainna. Pity cause Anita and her family were great friends...

This is him. He looks a lot like his mother when she had him.

Re: Mystic Warrior, the Appy Friesian
Friesian crosses are the new thing. Pardon, Friesian "sport horses." Some are really nice and others not so much, like with any cross. Grande Design is another very pretty appy/friesian cross.
Some are being created as a throw back to colorful baroque horses in the days before Lp, pinto and any kind of dilute where considered obscene and common to the upper classes (when they used to be quite favored). The good ol' days when Lipizzans had spots cream and *gasp* dun! (It was too much and made the ladies faint so it had to be abolished you understand? :? ;-) )
I have pics of Friesians crossed with appys, pintos, classic roan, a gray friesian/arabian mix, a fjord cross and even a Friesian mule :P They get around.
Re: Mystic Warrior, the Appy Friesan
There is no law that says any horse cannot be crossed with any other horse.
If you do this cross with certain breeds (are Haflingers still sacrosanct??) then the society will refuse to register subsequent foals but since it is the Mother Stud Book and in the country of origin, it has no real sway over stud books in other countries. I think it is a throw back to cross miscegenation, when they believed that if you bred a non purebred from a female the subsequent offspring could be affected. It is in direct conflict with European Law, and, if challenged, would be thrown out. You cannot refuse to register the offspring of two registered parents, not even if you are the Queen of England and still think your Corgi's should have their tails cut off, as her daughter found out the hard way!!

Re: Mystic Warrior, the Appy Friesian
Oh it's funny. Due to my work sched, hubby and I flew in later than the rest of the team. Beforei got a chance to see him, my friend (who knows I love appies and Friesians) told me there was an appy/Friesian on the other side of our stalls. I immediately knew it HAD to be him :)
