a King comes to Innishfael, check out the birdcatcher spots

this is Gamaaray (Gamaar x Hillcrests Imafarwa (x Imaraff and out of an Abu Farwa daughter). "Ray" is 28 years old and we recently acquired him to live out his life here at Innishfael Farm. ray is very active and has been courting and loving the ladies like a mad thing, but we are not sure if he is fertile or not. it has been several years since he has been used for breeding, but when i saw his pedigree, i just HAD to take the chance. ray has the most interesting birdcatcher spots going up his left foreleg and on his face. his breeder said he started getting them about ten years ago, so i am not sure if his are age related or genetic or both.
Ah! How cool is that!? Where'd you stumble upon him? LOL
a little craigslist ad that said 'arabian horses $500' when i clicked on it i was surprised to see a Gamaar son listed, along with three of his daughters. if i were not paying for winter hay right now, i would have taken one of the daughters - she was just lovely.

now i have to stay off of craigslist

Bless you for taking him in and giving him the home to which he will very quickly become accustomed!
JFYI I let Rabbit have a mare last year as he was screeching the place down and his son was born this year (his 30th)
I actually put, in my diary "Covered Princess, no idea why!" as I had decided to retire the mare (17) and the stallion was on a promise fertility wise.
The colt, a chestnut, is amazing. I have gelded him and I shall be showing him next year. I have put Rabbit on one mare this year too.
Rabbits testicles are now quite small, and this is supposed to indicate low fertility, but obviously no-one has ever explained this to Rabbit!
I know what you mean! But I'm tempted to ask to see the daughters' pics!
all three daughters were nice, solid individuals - but there was one that truly stood out. she is 13 years old and very handleable, but not broke to ride. has been a pasture puff her entire life (all three have). i should have taken photos for the owners, i just didn't think of it, i was too excited about Ray.

thank you, i feel blessed to have him! ray's testicles are still very large, my daughter even commented on them LOL he is not a large horse, 14.2, and that is actually a good thing. my repro vet said the smaller they are, the more fertility they seem to retain. she did tell me that ponies are well-known to be fertile into their 30's. i never asked about miniature horses but i would think it may be similar?

Yay for homing ^_^

And I know I will sound like a broken record conspiracy theorist, but if he was born looking like that it looks like possible melanocyte migration impairment for his spotted markings. They just look like they were trying to finish making his sock.
