So Day started jumping on Lacy yesterday: [img]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs270.snc4/39840_1373668864…] So....what do you think about letting her show (maybe when she gets it and if Lacy can do it) and making a glittery eye patch for the mare? Too much? er?

She'll be thrilled to hear it Lipi! She is becoming passionate about it! Eye patch or no? It's a few months off at least....but I will start on a patch now as I have no idea how it will go - from brow band to cheek I guess.... I'll start experimenting now I guess....

Thanks Banner! Her registered name is Sparklin' Lacy W.

I was thinking about covering the patch in gems with either a "W" or "Lacy" or with a lace background and a sparkley W? LOL

Sparkle-y W with lace all around the edge of the eye-patch! Aaaaaaargh! (she's a pirate horse, right?)

My friend lost (cancer) her R eye when she was 14 and wears a patch, there is no way she could have a prosthetic eye, and she has a "for fun" patch that has a pretty line-drawn eye on it with long eye-lashes drawn on.

I know very little about jumping but I love that Day is standing and looking 'up', the rope rein is loose, Day isn't death-gripping anywhere and Lacy seems to be enjoying herself! What more could you ask when starting out?

Well, we all think Lace is pure gold. ;) She is doing a fantastic job teaching Day how to ride. But the patch would just be more to avoid the looks of disgust that she gets from those that don't know her. Rather than lace fringe, overlay with a color under neath? Like maybe burgandy base under black lace or something? Then the W in clear/silvery gems?

That sounds pretty! ....but maybe not any 'red' color, you don't want anything that may look like blood.

When Hubby and I saw the Spanish Riding School's 60th Anniversary performance in Atlanta several years ago, one of the stallions was missing an eye. I kept 'noticing' it, it was a little distraction, but once I realized what I was seeing (or not seeing) I admired him even more.

Thanks Krickette! I found this - http://leatherworker.net/forum" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm going to see if I can get in touch with that guy to see how it turned out. His concept has a sort of noseband up high added. I hope that is not necessary! I'll just have to experiment. Most eye patches are for use during an injury. I've read about everything from using a bra, a sport cup, a knee pad..... LOL

the lil girl is adorable in the patch.

OT: I have to stop using an exclamation point. I just went through and every sentence I wrote here had one. (!) LOL

except without the hole...
or you could modify some blinders somehow....
If you could manage to get some leather thick/stiff enough to hold a fold, then you could rig something like this:

if that makes any sense. I mean, it doesn't have to be flush with her face, since the purpose is not to protect, but only to conceal. So that would hide it, but since it doesnt need to sit flush it wouldnt need the bottom strap. Actually some black plastic or something might also work.

also, unrelated but...

so cute!

I think most are, but you can find them seperate like these:

though i have no idea how you get them on....
You can get just the bridle, instead of a whole harness, too. These are pretty cheap, but not very...pretty...
