That's Lewella's ponies! She's pretty good on colour I think, I'm suprised she's not a member here actually. She must have been on the silver group.

Lots of cool colours! I'd guess some of those weird ones are DW??

accphotography Sun, 07/04/2010 - 21:07

I know I sound like a broken record... but these SCREAM DW at me. Classic Puchilingui line appearance.

Oh and Lewella used to be a mod at the other forum but no one has seen her in years.

Lewella is still a member on Lil Beginnings, but I rarely see her post. I miss her posts, but can always count on an answer if I email her.

I'm intrigued to see her calling these horses sabino as I was pretty sure she was one of the ones to determine (in theory) that Shetlands didn't have sabino.

rabbitsfizz Mon, 07/05/2010 - 09:44

Yes, Lewella said UK Shetlands do not have Sabino, but I actually think they do, and we had a few discussions about it.
Rabbit is a UK Shetland and I am pretty sure he has Sabino..............

accphotography Mon, 07/05/2010 - 13:06

I wasn't around at the time those discussions happened so I've only heard about these things years after the fact through "hearsay". :rofl

Yeh I agree they have something more than just splash and tobiano anyway. A shetland with tobiano can get a blaze, can that be all splash?? Also the jagged edges sometimes on tobi patterns etc.. It doesn't seem to go on it's own much though, usually seems to need tobi. So maybe with all the little solid black shetlands that were selected for in so many popular lines, it's linked the sabino with the tobi somehow?!

I knew some of these guys looked oddly familiar, that Undeniably Royal picture was taken at the Eugene horse center in Oregon. It had to of been cuz as odd as it sounds i recognize both the background and the half of the person showing the horse... hahaha i know sounds weird...Love those horses WOW with Willowlawn's Mr. Unique! He's gorgeous...and i swear i've seen him in real life too...hmmm which is weird cuz the distance between her and i don't make it logical.

Supposedly that's not really possible.

Ah well, they are weird though. We have paddocks and paddocks of solid black shetlands with no white, but some of the tobi lines seems to definately be more than just tobi. Unless the black shetlands have a lot of white suppressors maybe and some of the tobianos have something that counter it?! Ok now I know I'm reaching LOL!!

I never thought it was weird until I came on here!! (well the old colour forum)

accphotography Tue, 07/06/2010 - 22:59

LOL! Tell me about it. I've been thinking more and more about it. The researcher that found the tobi mutation (inversion) believes it DOES cause face white. Of course there is no way to prove or disprove it until there is a test for every other white causing gene out there. :rofl

Lewella Tue, 06/26/2012 - 17:25

Found this via a click through to my website. They are Sb1 Sabino from the Royal Lee line. Compare them to some of "The Pusher" horses in TWH and you'll see striking similarities in the markings. The Pusher line was one that was used to develop the Sb1 test.
