New from Texas

My family and I own a Tennessee Walking Horse farm in NE Texas. We also have a few shetland ponies, which is a new venture for us, and one token quarter horse. I love color genetics and raising foals. Champagne, cream, and dun are some of my favorite colors. Splash is my favorite white pattern. Looking forward to meeting new friends here. :)

Hey there neighbor! You're only a couple hours from me, glad to see more people from these parts. Looking forward to gettin to know you! Feel free to post some pictures  , I'm a sucker for a shetland haha!

Carrot Mama Thu, 06/17/2010 - 11:06

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm afraid you won't have to ask me twice to post pictures. :P Here is our yearling shetland stallion, Cosmo, with yearling amber tobiano TWH, Wyatt.

Welcome. I am not far away, just across the river into Oklahoma. We raise AMHA/AMHR Miniatures. Love your Black and White pony. B/W is my favorite, but I also love variety.

lipigirl Thu, 06/17/2010 - 16:51

Hi from across the pond, I was looking at your website last year as I have been looking for a Champers TWH - welcome and enjoy the site.

Carrot Mama Thu, 06/17/2010 - 18:50

Thank you all so much. I do have an amber champagne 3 yr old stallion available for purchase at this time. He's quite impressive with good size, color, conformation, gait, and presence. Here he is last fall at age 2 1/2. I hope it's not against the rules to mention horses for sale under this topic... if so, let me know and I won't repeat it.

I love the black and whites, but actually Cosmo is a bay. Just a very dark one! The mare on your avatar is stunning. Love her face marking. Before I die I want a horse or pony with a great face marking like that. I have a weird bucket list, I guess. Oh, and I went to Paris High School right across the river from OK. Do you have a website?

Ha! We were both wrong, to a degree. Upon closer look, I can see it is a Bay. But, the horse in my avatar is not a mare, but a stallion, running with one of his foals.

My website is http://www.songcatcherminiaturehorseran…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Oh, by the way, I attended Travis Jr. High School way back in the 1960s.
Welcome to the forum from the West of Ireland :flower
West Ireland? Whoa, now that is pretty cool. Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to hearing about your horses. Sounds quite exotic and exciting compared to Texas. :ymdaydream:

lipigirl Fri, 06/18/2010 - 10:41

good to see Toxic looking so good, he's a handsome chap but I have decided to get a mare instead when I am ready.

Daylene Alford Fri, 06/18/2010 - 11:15

We actually have active members from all over the world! Ireland, England, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, forgive me if I missed anyone.

Best wishes with that. I'll look forward to seeing what you get. My champagne fillies generally sell as foals, but there are lots of grown mares advertised. I'm sure you'll find the perfect girl. :) Oh, and thank you for the nice comment on Toxic.

Welcome :newbie ...from northwestern North Carolina. We raise cream dilute QHs and Paints (well no paints yet, but one posible buckskin/splash/frame/sabino on the way for next year - hehehe) and I too, love the splash white pattern.

Daylene, have your forgotten our friends in South America and Africa - not that we hear from them much but they are probably still :lurk ? :love

Oooh, hoping you get tons of color on that one coming! Very exciting. I have one QH and I was thinking of putting her on the conformation critique section. If I put her up would you mind having a look at her, please? :?: I'm a gaited girl and evaluating QH conformation is just not in my comfort zone.

Hello! Those carrots look very fine and tasty
I'm in the UK too, I live in West Yorkshire but I come from the South West of England so I sound a bit like a :AR! , I don't have a horse but I'm a colour genetics geek and I do love horses.
Your horses are beautiful! I love TWHs (I have a dream of riding one before old age finally claims my joints completely) and splash too! I hope you can post lots more pics :-)

Thank you so much for the nice comments! Yep, I am the Carrot Mama around here. :P
What breed of cat is that you have there? I have a sphynx cat, among other critters. I have posted two photos in my album here so far, an amber cream champagne tobinano/sabino and a grullo TWH stallion. I will try to add more photos soon!

Welcome :)

I used to have a gold champagne TWH gelding...he was quite the "surprise" foal when he popped out. Now I have a haflinger and a little Spotted Saddle Horse pony

Gorgeous horses you posted

Thank you. :) Why was your gold champagne walker a surprise when he was born? I like short horses as much as I do the tall ones. Easy on, easy off. :toast

TheRedHayflinger Fri, 06/18/2010 - 16:32

i had bought the momma already bred....we were told she was bred to a palomino...we didn't know what the heck he was colorwise when he was born..found out the next day though after a ton of sleuthing....I think that Riot was the reason I got interested in color genetics actually....after that, I was hooked. LOL

Hello from the midlands of Ireland , love your gorgeous boy in the pic:-)

Hi from Idaho. I'm a color :newbie I stumbled across this board looking for pics of neat colored horses and I am so hooked. I've learned more just from reading these guys chat than I did in years of ramling cross the net. LOVES me some TWH's. Used to go steal some from the plantation my sister worked for two, three times a year when I'd visit Florida. Right now we're owned by a grade chestnut paint mare, pali APHA gelding, and the mut who might be dun. Wonderful horses you have.

Thank you! Just back from the local cattle barn and there were a slew of horses put through today. I was on color overload. No champagne, but spotted mules, pintaloosa mares, unusual appy markings, grays, roans, bay silver dapple, and loads of tobianos. Very interesting and AGAIN I forgot my camera. Ugh! :BH

**waving back** I've been to visit Australia and it's beautiful. Until then I don't think I'd been away from my horses for two weeks my entire life! Really missed them, but enjoyed your country very much. Learned a LOT about sheep while I was there!! Thank you for the nice comments on the horses. :)

Thank you! Horse color hunting is the best, isn't it? Rather addictive, but tons of fun. :)

I love the kitties and the horses. I'd probably be hard pressed to find an animal I didn't like, honestly. Here is Jynx sending a sleepy hello out to your lovely Juno.
