What's this?

What's a "poor man's andalusian"? The photo she sent me looked kinda like a Lipizzaner, but I've never heard that term, nor would I think of it....???

Morgan Mon, 06/14/2010 - 08:43

a quarter horse that looks kinda like one? lol honestly no idea...

I typed it in google to see if anyone was using the term and came up with an SMR mustang.

TheRedHayflinger Mon, 06/14/2010 - 08:56

it's a spanish mustang. I've heard the term more than a few times.

Jenks Mon, 06/14/2010 - 09:06

AH! O that makes perfect sense too, she is one of those farriers who do the natural barefoot stuff! THanks!!!

Rusti Mon, 06/14/2010 - 22:51

I have 2 Spanish Mustangs and I'd rather have them over an Andalusian ANY DAY!

Krickette Tue, 06/15/2010 - 10:00

Hmm, I'd be willing to look at a spanish mustang, I think, some of them are fabulous. But the mustangs around here....the blm ones....never in a million years. I've seen a few that are pretty to look at but not much else, but the one that has an actual brain in her head looks like frankenhorse. Jug headed short backed ewe neck and as cow hocked as they come.
Well, that being said, I can't resist an opportunity to show mine off LOL And no Chilli's not tiny, I just have super long legs haha...those jeans I'm wearing in the pic are 36" inseam and you see they are still not as long as I'd like for riding.
HEY!!! ME TOO! I am a 36 inseam!!! XXLONG is rarely understood!

AND hard to find! I hate shopping cause I can never find jeans I like in my length! So I just stick with Wrangler and Cruel Girl.

Jenks Wed, 06/16/2010 - 08:32

Yep - Cruel Girl is it. I have one pair of Wranglers, but I'm so high waisted (I guess they are not low-rise) they look like they're right up under my bra! (yikes) I'm blanking on the other brand I have - but I used to order Edwins a long long time ago......BK (Before Kids ...and Horses and Farm)

I'm 5' 10.75" (LOL) I'm a big girl, but not as big around as tall, so the tall shops have all elastic waist band stuff and clothes for XL people. It's way more difficult to find normal sized jeans in not just extra long (which is too short at 34" inseam) but extra extra long!

Rusti Wed, 06/16/2010 - 13:22

I'm almost up there with ya! I'm 5'9.5" lol My fiancee is 5'11" and if we go out and he's wearing his normal shoes and I'm wearing my nice boots I'm taller than him hehehe. We're getting married September 18th, I'm gonna wear flip flops or flat sandals (outdoor wedding) and I'm making him wear his good boots so we don't look goofy! LOL.

Jenks Wed, 06/16/2010 - 13:31

Same here - my DH claims to be 6', but I am not so sure! I got married barefoot - boy. I sound like a redneck. But I got married barefoot and -yes-pregnant in a feed store. No lie. We eloped. You will have to post pics of the wedding! Congratulations!

Rusti Wed, 06/16/2010 - 13:34

Yaaay for long legs lol! Thank you, I will definitely post pics (once we get back from Honeymoon in Aruba! hehe) Here's some pics from our trip to Cozumel, Mexico back in December.
Me riding a Criollo. He was probably 14 hands, maybe a hair over. I probably coulda took my feet outta the stirrups and hooked them together under his belly LOL

On the pirate ship, notice not only is Joel taller than "Jack Barracuda" but so am I. There wasn't a single pirate on the ship taller than me bwahaha

At the hotel the night he proposed. I love how he's 1.5 inches taller than me, but he has a 32" inseam and I have a 36" inseam lol...

Ha! OMG - I have to see if I can find me on Serenity....she's girthy, so it's not too outrageous, but maybe close to 14hh! But that is good! I am pretty sure I could do the same on Cyn (put him in a leg-lock) he is taller, but not filled out yet in the topside....

Great pics! You actually look like you are leaning down just a smidge! LOL

Krickette Wed, 06/16/2010 - 13:56

Wow! I have such short legs, yall are crazy! I have no clue what my inseam is, I tend to tear up my regular lengths at the bottom haha. But I do know that my bf is 6' and I'm 5'6 and if we sit down side by side I sit taller than him. I'm all torso. Which is good, because I can still ride my short little ayrab!

ThornandThistle Thu, 06/17/2010 - 02:16

lucky girls ahaha I'm 4'11" the "short" pants barely fit me!!! I remember wishing on my birthday candles to hit 5 foot...ahaha dang it! Funny thing is i've never dated someone UNDER 6'!!!

Morgan Thu, 06/17/2010 - 10:20

Tall people!
My cousin and several great aunts on my mom's side are all in the 4 ft range and my dad's family is mostly around 6 ft (he's the short one at 5'10") so I guess I was lucky and came out with 5'6" (though I was done when I was 14 so I'm used to being called tall, except by dad's family...) But yah I have no torso at all, which would be all great if it weren't for the thighs of doom, lol. My main clothing problem is finding styles that fit my body but can still get around my arms and legs. Skirts and sleeveless tops and super low rise jeans are wonderful inventions. :-D I seriously got stuck in a dress at a clothing store once, went on fine and fit but I couldn't get it off over my head for my arms. I did end up buying it and just cut the sleeves wider.
At least it makes riding really easy, just settle down and let gravity work, even falling off I always land rear first.

Hehe me too. Joel tells me "You can diet all you want, but if you start loosing your butt we might have a problem." LOL men. :booty
My family is kinda strung out as far as heights. My mom is about 5'6", her sister about the same, her mom is even shorter, her dad was about 6'. My dad is 6'1", his brother #1 is about 5'10", brother #2 is 6'7"!!!!!!! lol. His mom is about 5'9", his dad was well over 6', not sure how much though. My little brother ended up 6'2", my older half-sister about 5'6" (no clue how tall her dad is). I'm the middle child in every aspect lol.

Here's my uncles and my aunt, she's probably 5'8" (she's married to the shorter one, on the left lol, Jeff is just picking on her cause she hates having her picture taken).
