My new foal Dusty

Forums

Well Heidi finally foaled 5 days late :) Welcome Dusty! She gave me a lovley buckskin colt, all I wanted was a filly, lol Still im quite smitten with him so may keep him as nice ridden gelding as his parents and siblings are quite lovley to ride :) He is by a buckskin QH & ASH stallion and out of a sabino chestnut QH mare. Its a pity he got hardly any white! All of this mares foals have had lots of chrome! Dusty ended up with 2 rear socks and thats it. ;)

Well, you've got the factory... and it sure would be good promotion for your stallion. Think about what you can have done with the money too. Very, very tough, but I think I'd accept. *shrugs*

I agree, I think I would accept too. But then, that is coming from the person who still has her first foal (saving her for my grandkids).

My best friend owns his dad, but I cna rebred as much as I like as we do that for each other, I help her, create and maintain her website, etc and she gives me free/cheap services :)

Its hard as my hubby isnt horsey, and has thrown himself into the deep end with my horses. And he has bonded with Dusty, so its hard to make a decision. I agree I have Heidi and I am rebreding her next year. Guess Il make the decision when I wean him :D

He is so gorgeous and such a beautiful head. Hard decision for you but if you are being offered good money and its a really good home then you couldnt ask for more and especially as you can repeat the breeding - who knows you might get a beautiful filly next yr

I know this thread is from last year, but do you have updated pics of this foal? He looks like he will turn out nice. I like the Sire and the Dam, what is the breeding on this colt? and did you breed back?

dakotakdq Sat, 05/01/2010 - 00:38

Hi

Im from Australia, his dam Heidi (Centauri Im On A High -QH) has been AI to a lovley brown roan (looks black!) cutting and campdrafting stallion named "Kehls Exy Acres" (hes also homo for black) for a nov 2010 foal. Heidi will then be rebred back to digger (sire of my bucky colt) after shes had a year off!

My new red QH mare is being bred to Digger this year. SHe is all cutting bred. Im praying for a filly and id like a : grulla, smokey grulla, bay dun or dunskin! not too much to ask? lol

here are some new pics of Dusty at 7mths April 2010, sorry hes filthy! you cant even seen the lovley metallic sheen has has all over. He is also starting to darker around his eyes and forehad a real dark golden colour :)

I like cutting bloodlines, he looks like he might have cream does he? I have one cutting bred 2008 Paint gelding his name is I CD SPOT, he is line bred Doc Bar Poco Lena and he also has Delta. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/i+cd+sp…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It must be nice there in Australia, its pretty here in western Wa but very wet.

He is SOLID!!! So pretty. Can I put in an order for a freebie one of those too??? :love

He is super solid compared to Scout. Of course I have NO idea what Scouts daddy is either. Rescue and previous owner still saying she wasn't bred or exposed. Could it be I have the "devine intervention" of all foals??? I don't know but I LOVE this concept of only waiting a week for a mare to foal.!!!!!! lol.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this baby. Can't wait to see him as he grows. :bounce :bounce

dakotakdq Sun, 05/02/2010 - 19:00

thanks guys! he really is so much better in real life, hes a mini me version of his dad with a touch more soldiness/bone to him. His dad is very pretty like him as well, Heidi does have a good head as well thou.

Its just so hard to get a decent piccys! argh!

Which horse looks like it has cream Rodeoratdogs? Dusty and his sire Digger are buckys, but none of the others have cream. Exy I tested for red/agouti. He is out of a bay roan mare and from a black sire so no chance of cream there.

Exy is all cutting bred and so is my black filly (shes got docs freckle oak, peppys doc bar, etc) and my red dun mare (mr war cutter, flappers breeze & king ranch breeding), so in the future I will be crossing both with Exy and Digger of course.
Exy would give up nice cuttign type foals and digegr throws the more taller leggy challeneg types. alrounders so to speak.

Im eagerly awaiting samples of diggers perlino/smokey cream filly. We dont know what colour she is!
So far Digger has thrown ALL black based foals even thou he carries red. And he was bred to 3 red based horses! I thought it was good odds for his first foal crop. (no outside mares other than mine as my best friend owns him and we wanted to see what he threw to make sure if he could stay a stallion or not!,lol)

To a chestnut - bucky colt
pally - buckskin filly
pally - perlino/smokey cream (was born ashy/smokey coloured with orange tipped ears?) Now looks perlino with orangey mane? Who knows her colour!

rodeoratdogs Sun, 05/02/2010 - 19:26

The one you just posted pics of is the one I thought looks like it might have cream to me, is that Dusty? Yeah I was looking at your horses pedigrees on allbreeds, I like to look at pedigrees. How many horses do you have? You kinda lost me with all the names, But I looked at a few

dakotakdq Wed, 06/09/2010 - 04:26

He is growing up beautifully dak, and his daddy is awesome!! I love those cows too..the floppy ears and that colour!!! How cool would a horse that colour be! lol

rodeoratdogs Wed, 06/09/2010 - 09:43

Oh yeah he's looking good, didn't you have a foal this year out of the same sire and dam or was that a different mare?
