Thank you :) for the welcome :) Here are a few more pics to share...
Heza Blue Tom Cat's first colt for us 'Malone' (black minimal tobiano, we believe, been trying to work that one out with ACC's help on the Silver Dilution Forum)...and also his red roan part Spanish daughter 'Rufina Donna' (which means red-haired lady in spanish) she has just started losing her foal coat, you can see the white hair underneath, she is going to be a real stunner, we just love her. :love
Re: Hello from Tashanor Park!
Welcome!! I had to do a double take as I saw Heza Blue Tom Cat before I read your post properly, and thought but he's in Australia LOL. Did you used to have a buckskin stallion too?? Or maybe I just saw your boy advertised somewhere that was also advertising a buckskin stallion! :?
Anyway, enjoy talking about colours!!
Cheers
Danni

That is so cool! His tobiano is linked to his black gene and the roan is linked to his red.

I just got my head around tobiano being able to link  So Roan can link too? Does Roan always link? And do all the other white genes link to etension somehow too?
Re: Hello from Tashanor Park!
The KIT genes link to extension as they are found close together on the same chromosome. That means tobiano, roan, sabino-1 and all the dominant whites will be linked. Extension and KIT are not so closely linked that crossovering doesn't occur often, but most of the time you can follow the link back a few generations. If you look at roan in western pleasure horses, almost every single roan is red linked since the majority of western pleasure roans came from one line (Zippos Mr. Goodbar if I recall correctly).
Re: Hello from Tashanor Park!
Hello again and thanks so much for all your warm welcomes and comments on our gang :)
Jenks:-We believe Star got her silver gene from her dam's side..there are some foundation horses on that side of her pedigree and most likely stock horse blood. In Aus it is far more common to find the taffy/silvers in Aus stck horses. She is homozygous black EE and brown ATa plus we have a suspicion that she may also be a cream carrier :!: Her sire (Mr Moondust) was listed as a buckskin and we never thought to test her for cream as we were so focused on the silver of course.. anyway her colt Malone has the looks of a smokey black, he may be a brown like her but we will test him for cream as you never know  also will test for homozygous black.
Dilutes: She is 15hh :) and we have had a few offers for her but as you can imagine she is a keeper!!
Dakotakdq Red Dun Tobi/roan mmmmm, lovely mix ;)
Monsterpony Was not aware of the connection there but makes sense and definitely fits in Sampson's case.. he has had 5 classic roan fillies in a row 3 reds and 2 bays and 2 black based tobiano colts with no roan. Fasinating stuff this genetics business :) The more you think you know the more you realize you know nothing
Anyway we are here to learn :D By the way .. real names Bianca and Tamara-- sisters and best friends we are definitely united by our crazy, one eyed devotion to anything horsey.. much to our families dismay, they just don't get it... we never grew out of it
Re: Thanks for directing us to this site ACC!
